Shenel, 30 June, 2021 at 11:50 Posted on Planning 1 23
Just wondering what you have given/plan to give as a gift to your parents on the day of the wedding?

Also, what did you give to your hubby to be? Did you give a little gift prior to the day ?

I’m giving my stbhusband ( soon to be husband) cufflinks to wear on our wedding day. I’ll have them sent to his room the morning of our weddings.

We aren’t giving our parents presents on the day.

That’s a great idea. Thanks. I do feel like we ought to buy our parents something especially as his parents are paying for the wedding x

If ours were we definitely would but as it stands we are paying for our wedding plus we are paying to put my mum and wedding in a hotel the night before etc. Maybe that is the gift 🤣

I didn’t really know if you were supposed to give presents to parents. I have been to weddings where they have given flowers to the mums as a gesture but not sure about bigger gifts. Mmm, that’s made me think as my parents are paying for most of our wedding so had better get my thinking cap on for a decent gift!

Thanks. Yes my fiancé said we should give flowers to our mums but I wasn’t really sure what they are supposed to do with them whist at the wedding haha. Plus my mum is coming up to Scotland from London for the wedding so she wouldn’t have a vase to put them in 🤔

Yes flowers is a nice idea. It’s just that my mum is coming up to Scotland from London for the wedding so doubt the flowers would last until their drive back home!

How about a living plant, I think you can get roses with names that are good gifts for mother of the bride/groom (in fact there might be ones called just that!)

Gift for parents on the wedding day 1
Typically anything “wedding” is extra expensive but this one isn’t too bad and would fit both mother of the bride and groom

I don’t think you have to. But my parents in law are just so helpful by nature and mum in law to be is paying for flowers and so eager to help me with my bridal bouquet etc. They also let us live with them for a few months while we were waiting to move into our new house. They are pretty awesome as in-laws go and I just want to say thank you for everything really!

I’m planning on buying my fiancé a fancy new pocket watch! It’s something he always said he wanted and he hasn’t really been able to afford it, so I’ve been secretly saving for it. 🥰 I can’t wait to give it to him to open on the day!

We are going to treat the parents to a fancy meal out / vouchers for a Michelin star restaurant as they love going out for dinner. We wanted something for all rather than just flowers for the mums so thought they would enjoy an experience treat instead:-)

Think the living plant idea is lovely too as a keepsake!

My mum and future mother in law are getting ready with me in the morning so I’m getting them personalised slippers and champagne flutes (mother of bride/groom) I’m also getting them an engraved mirror/keyring with as message on. Want to get groom a gift but not sure what yet!?

Mums gifts I mostly I see flowers - Dads don't always get gifts but when they do a bottle of whisky or port ect or a tankard. If they like a glass of wine they what about a pair of fancy glasses for them. On the plant idea - a bay or olive tree.

In my opinion I think there maybe better choices than cufflinks, quite possibly the only time they will wear them is on the wedding day, remember that its a special shirt that has two button holes but no button on the cuff and not a standard shirt. And then he is going to end up with two pairs because he is going to want them for his wedding shirt which he will be getting before the day and then he also gets yours on the wedding morning as well.

    How about a watch.

Cufflinks are one of the things that are usually needed for a hired shirt and quite often they all match and might say Father of the bride/ best man/ groom / usher - and so on. These were fun cool ones for one wedding I shot.

Gift for parents on the wedding day 4

Nothing for parents and we are self funding our wedding and I'm doing a boudoir shoot for my fiancé so he can look back on it when I'm old and wrinkly
