Ginormaboobs!

Snyffa, 4 April, 2013 at 17:46 Posted on Planning 0 34

So girls, I know you cant know until you go shopping, but Im longingly looking at dresses, knowing full well so many of them will be ruled out immediately as my boobs are just too big and it will just be so so unflattering ill look like a 2p hooker Smiley sad

So you big busty birds, what neckline did you chose? Flashes if possible....

I cannot wear anything that reduces them etc because I am and will still be breastfeeding.

Thankies hitchers

Without being too personal how big is big?

I have a large bust and initially found dress shopping scary as they looked massive but as I went along I realised that the lace back suited best and with a relatively high neckline, not under the chin obviously but just not toooo low. I ended up changing mine from straight to sweetheart neckline which contrary to what you may think actually really flattered my boobs and made them look quite small (if that's possible!)

my advice is just to try them all on - you will know straight away what does / doesn't suit you

one thing I would personally avoid is the dresses with built corsets as they are just too much boobage for me and this really knocked my confidence as this was the first dress I tried and was already feeling self conscious of my boob situation! Lol

Halterneck always looks gorgeous on girls with a bigger bust and easy to do up/undo to breastfeed Smiley smile xXx

    Then avoid this!

Sorry, just had to share that!!

I agree that a halterneck would probably look best. Something that goes up past the bust - if you get a 'straight across strapless' then it seems to make the breasts look like they're sitting on a shelf Smiley sad Mine are tiny though, so I can't speak from experience Smiley laugh

I second the anything apart from a straight across neckline. At the moment mine is straight across and makes me look pretty matronly (I'm DD/E, so not huge huge) I'm having a very subtle sweetheart neckline put in which makes them look far less ridiculous. Too much of a sweetheart and I look a little porn star.

Halterneck was not an option for me as I have shoulders that would out do Mike Tindall.

I am really intrigued to see that picture above but can't Smiley sad lol

It depends if you're a plus size big bust or a regular size big bust

My sister & I are a D cup but she's a 32 and I'm a 46 back size... :/ And there's a BIG difference in boobie size and dress styles to suit. Another factor to think about really. Sorry to be a pain!

As a HH myself, I feel your pain. No shop sample went over the boobs. In the end my dress is not a true strapless, as it also has a lace bodice over top, and sleeves, but this is the general look of mine:

ETA this is a crap photo and the dress is obviously a work in progress, but this is what the shape looks like on me:

As others have said, it really depends on what your overall shape is. If its hourglass, then thats fairly balanced bood to hip ratio. If you are an inverted triangle wide shoulders, big boobs & narrow hips or overall plus size, these all have different dress shapes that flatter.

In general, a straight across, strapless makes the eyes unconsioulsy go across the body from side to side, focussing on width. A V-neck, however, makes the eyes go up & down the body, giving a slimming effect. I chose a sweetheart neckline as I found it the most flattering for me.

If you go with straps, get thicker ones as not only are they more supportive, they balance out the overall look rather than spagetti straps. I found a corset back with boning to be very supportive & I didnt even need a bra- 1st time since I was about 12!

Once you work out your shape, there are many sites that can give more pics showing good & bad dresses for shape. Nothing like actually trying dresses on though.

DD/E lady here - mine's a V (lower at the back than at the front, and with lace sleeves to hide bingowings) - makes me look smaller than I actually am. I tried a strapless one on and I looked like I had a shelf!.

I always think sweetheart looks beautiful on a bigger bust!

Don't know if you have underwear sorted or hadn't even thought about it may i just recommend: http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_150010267285_-1

Maybe the best thing i have bought in months for the wedding, it is so sexy, flattering and supportive!!!!

I'm a 38F & have found that sweetheart necklines are actually the most flattering. I'm not having this dress now but this is me

I'm a 34F and never thought I'd go for a straight across strapless. However, it was cut quite high so I felt really secure and didn't even wear a bra on the day.

Loads of pics in link in signature.

Kharvo I thought of you as soon as I saw this post ?

Sorry OP, a recent survey showed I have the smallest boobs on OT. I can however concur with the sweetheart neckline. I was a BM for a big boobed chum and she looked gorgeous in it- plus it was sturdy enough it kept her supported and not headed south.

Im a 32 H on last measurement, there is some fluctuation with the feeding....

Overall body shape, i would say i'm an hourglass....have wide hips, my shoulders are fairly wide too........I've always found sweetheart makes me look porn star, but i'm wearing sweetheart as my sisters bridesmaid and aslong as the dress is pulled up high enough in the right place its better...

I'm a 32GG and to be honest I was pleasantly surprised about how small I looked in most of the dresses I tried on, so hopefully you will too. I've gone with a dress with a sweetheart neckline with a kind of lace overlay/sleeves, which I picked mainly because I fely it gave me that bit extra security and I wouldn't be hoiking it up all day! Even so, I still felt pretty secure in the corset back strapless dresses, and my best friend who is a similar size to me and got married last year wore a strapless dress and was fine.

Oh, and I'm also an hourglass shape too, which I think helps as the hips balance out the top half!

If the cup is fitted correctly, there shouldnt be any fat hanging out, or making you feel like a porn star. It should cup the bust & not be soo tight or small. Dress on left if the one I chose with sweetheart neckline (although not me). Pic on right show a cup thats a little small!!!

Here is another vote for a sweetheart neckline. How about if you try on a few different styles to see what suits you and what you feel comfortable in?

I'm a pretty hefty 38G...this is what I went for. Gives a wicked cleavage, but no chance of Phil and Grant making a guest appearance at any point!

I used to have a fair pair of norks, 34 F but since loosing weight I'm somewhat challenged in the breasticles department, 30 DD ( they feel small to me) however from my past experience of semi giant nork status I say halterneck or strapless or thicker straps with a gentle sweetheart neckline. Remember you can always have necklines changed or straps added to a dress.

Haha Mini, I think I may be challenge for that particular title hehe. Can't comment on what suits a large bust due to not having a large bust, but would suggest just try on everything to see firstly what suits you, but secondly, what feels good and comfortable.

I am a 36ff and this is my dress. The seamstress has made an extra large panel in the dress at the back. Tie up dresses are the best. She told me to buy a minimizer as well and now it looks fine. No cleavage or anything

Obviously this lady has lovely petit boobies, but this is my dress and I am a 34DD. I feel this is very sturdy yet not making be feel as though I am strapped in. I think the key is the bra!!

Im a 32GG and also will have this problem when the time comes, i want straps as i can hold a strapless bra up for some reason....considering they're size they are very good perky boobs!!

Now i dont want to much boob on show, or to much cleavage (needing to look virgin...or atleast a little bit).

I find that anything with a high neck line makes my boobs look like they're just about to sit on my knees!!

I FEEL YOUR PAIN. I was always a tree-climing, river-swimming, lego-building, sport-playing tomboy- at my school prom I had pillar box red hair and Doc Martens. I always hated being told I look 'nice' or 'pretty'. I can't explain why- it makes me feel all creepy! Even my nan used to tell me I'd come out the 'wrong' way and my parents were convinced I was gay until I got my first boyfriend...when I was 18!

I NEVER wear dresses, and I was dreading wedding dress shopping. But- it's different. I was always quite into drama as a kid, and trying on dresses in the shops was like putting on fancy dress and pretending to be a character. It was weird to see how each dress affected my persona and posture. The day I chose my dress, I tried on a beautiful, floor length, tie back 'proper' wedding dress which was GORGEOUS. But I looked in the mirror and it made me stand all demure and Princess Di. Which is just not me. I ended up buying a dress which- when I put it on- I immediately started running around the shop and jumping up and down in! Everyone said that they couldn't explain it, but it was just 'me'.

You'll find something which will be perfect for you. Any, anyway...who says you even HAVE to wear a dress??
