Giving notice

Yasmin, 1 February, 2024 at 13:30 Posted on Planning 0 3
Hi All,
I changed the spelling of my name via deed poll in 2018. I took 1 letter out of my name.
Do I need to provide this evidence when giving notice of my marriage?

Best to check with your local council as to what proof of identification they require. I’ve had my name changed by deed poll previously, but my passport & drivers licence was all my council needed to prove my identification when I gave notice.
Whilst I would hope all councils follow the same process, only your local council can advise what they do/don’t accept.

Usually, they just need your legal name, so you should be good. But it's always a good idea to check with the local authorities, just to be sure.

If your name was changed by deed poll, it’s worth confirming the required documents with the relevant office beforehand. Also check the horario de atencion to plan your visit.
