Godfather theme - need outfit help!

Hoping you might be able to help. I have been invited to a party with a godfather theme (FIL's 60th). Whilst an outfit for my H is extremely easy, suit with trilby hat and fake gun - voila. However I am struggling to some up with anything for me. What did women wear then?

I don't want it to be too obviously in fancy dress though! lol.

    They were dressed in 1940/50's clothing in the film. Not really a costume as such worn by the women.

    Or you have bugsy Malone , which is 20's - Charleston type dress

    Gangsters Moll is another option.

    Gangsters moll is a little too obviously fancy dress possibly? I don't know.. I was hoping there was a certain style of dress for the ladies in the Godfather. Haven't watched it (any of them) even though I had intended to today... Thanks for the suggestions.

    There are only 5 women characters IN the Godfather - if you can get your hands on a fugly peach bridesmaid dress, you've got one of them ? 1940/50s style was the only clue really.
