going for an indian on sw

Vee Tee, 22 January, 2012 at 21:29 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 16

Sad times for me tomorrow (ahem) i'm being 'forced' to go out to the indian restaurant for a meal as it's my sister's bday. unkeen on one hand cos i have soooo much weight to lose for wedding, i got an undeserved gain last week due to fluid retention and this week i'm on for a 4lb loss but the weigh in is tuesday and said indian is monday!!

good news though - according to my syn section i can have a chicken tikka massala for 14.5 syns and a pilau rice for 2.5 on extra easy!!! niiiice. just steering clear of starter and naan bread should limit any potential disaster but i reckon it will still impact on this weeks loss though. ah well sacrifices weh.

I went on Sat - Hubby forced me too! lol

but I had no syns during the day and had

    1 poppadom - 4 syns

boiled rice - free on EE

Lamb Rogan Josh - 6.5 syns!

I was extremely pleased with myself - the massala has loads of cream so is high - but you will still be in syns. Can you have boiled/plain rice instead and save another 2.5 syns???

Tandoori chicken tikka and boiled rice is free on EE I think, then you can have a starter if you want.

I really would advise staying away from the masalla sauce. It is soooooo bad for you.

I'd just stick to tandoori chicken.

Aw pants, there was me thinking I was being good!

Right whats tandoori chicken? or Rogan Josh.

I've never really had anything other than a korma / massala before so I'm quite uneducated in indian food. I don't do too spicy...

Tandoori is like barbecued chicken, not in a sauce but marinated in yummy spice:

Vix do you like tomato/onion based sauces?? rogan josh is that and not spicy but the tandori would probably be best

either a tandori or shashlick (dry)

massala and korma are really bad

    Ooo errr

so I've looked at the synage online and Tandoori chicken is better at 9 syns but I do like a sauce...I'm not a big rice fan unless there's sauce.

    Here's my findings

I'm tempted by chicken kashmiri as I've actually had that before but again it was creamy. 9 syns not bad though, but might go for rogan josh and stay away from cream but then for all the difference in syns does it really make a difference?

ETA sorry pics aren't great. Kashmiri comes out at 9.5, rogan is 6.5 and tandoori chicken 9, whereas massala is up at 14.5

I wonder why Tandoori is 9? It should be free as it's just grilled chicken and spices. The only thing I can think is that they are thinking of it as chicken legs etc with the skin on rather than skinless chicken breast? If you have the tandoori chicken pieces, I am reasonably confident they are free and definitely not 9 syns!

Been thinking about this panj. am thinking there must be oils of some kind involved in the marinade. or the chance that there will be.
