Golden Sands or Blue Dolphin (Haven)? x-posted

Clairebecky, 1 June, 2008 at 15:00 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 3

I am thinking of booking to go camping in June for a weekend and there is availability at both of these sites - only about £38 for 3 nights.

The reviews I can find are pretty mixed though, ranging from 1/10 to 10/10!

Anyone been to either of these who can comment on entertainment, facilities, cleanliness, locas area (Mablethorpe vs Filey) etc?

I know it's not gonna be a classy holiday but we just want a bit of cheap and chearful family fun (clildren are 10 & 3).

The filey one is good, We went for a week in october and it rained the entire week. They have a really good swimming pool and an indoor soft play centre. there are a couple of parks and the usual arcade and kids club. and a mini fair.

I would go to Blue Dolphin, however I am biased as I spent many a happy holiday there as a child/teenager.

I live a few miles from Blue Dolphin.I can't say what the park itself is like, although from what I've heard it's very typically Haven.

But the area around is lovely, and in my opinion you are within easy reach of the some of the best beaches in England.

You're also near to three resorts, Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington.

I do like that area - we've stayed at The Flower of May site a couple of times and had a good time, but I was really wanting a site with more activities, bigger pool etc.

Only thing is there are a couple of very recent, very bad reviews on Holiday Watchdog for the Blue Dolphin site. The Golden Sands one seem to have marginally better ones.

Best reviews are for one in Norfolk, but it's an extra 1.5 hrs driving and I'm not sure it's worth it for jut a weekend. Hmmmmm not sre what to do!

Mablethorpe is about 80 miles from us and Filey about 100 so not a great deal in it distance wise.
