Good Friday wedding

Stephanie, 22 August, 2021 at 07:16 Posted on Planning 0 5
Is there any reason why I shouldn’t get married on good Friday? Will it be difficult find suppliers for a bank holiday or anything like that?

Thanks
Steph

IMO it depends where you get married - In a church it might be seen as a bit disrespectful considering what Good Friday means. I'm a Christian so personally I wouldn't, as I see it as a day of reflection and awaiting Easter, but that's just my opinion.

But if you have no religious element (or non-Christian/Catholic) then I don't see why not! You might find it a bit harder with it being a long bank holiday weekend so things might be more expensive. But on the other hand, most people will be off from work!

Thank you Zoe, yeah it will be a civil ceremony not a church wedding. Xxx

What about the day before as everyone will have the Friday off, you might find this easier and cheaper.

For a civil ceremony the only problem with suppliers will be that you may not get your first choice unless you are booking way in advance. The bank holidays are always the first to get booked up. I do not charge any more for a bank holiday week end.

(Edit) although some suppliers may themselves be reluctant to work as mentioned by Zoe

    Problems I can think of:

    1) Suppliers may be booked up/more expensive/not want to work over Easter

    2) Guests may have already booked holidays over the Easter break by the time you send out invites

    3) If you have any Christian guests, they may be reluctant to attend a wedding on Good Friday

Could you go for Maundy Thursday instead? Might deal with most of these problems.
