Great Tythe Barn, Tetbury

Hi there ?

I've never used it for any clients but have been to wedding fayres there and I haven't heard anything great about it and to me it can seem a bit 'tacky'. If you wanted a barn style venue have a look at Kingscote Barn, it's till in Tetbury but it has lovely views and the building just seems cleaner and more attractive.

Also, I just read the reviews for Tythe Barn on here and they seem a bit short asthough the venue posted them themselves. They always seem a bit contrived.

If you would like any more advice about finding a venue in Gloucestershire, I am a planner from Cheltenham and know most of the venues and would be happy to offer you some free advice

I dont know the tythe barn, but we are getting married at The Matara centre in kingscote, just down the road.

We live in Hertfordshire and have a few suppliers in the area i can reccomend....might need to ask you if you can reccomend hairdressers etc

The Matara Centre is gorgeous, you will have a fantastic wedding there.

That's a useful perspective, Ruth, but we do like the venue itself; Kingscote is more modern and light, but may be a little small for our needs (we have 160-170 on the invite list, and while I'm sure we'll lose a fair amount, Kingscote struggles with more than 124 and really isn't suitable for more than 140).

Our concerns related more to the organisation, which were the focus of the comments in the reviewcentre website; the tripadvisor reviews complained about the owner himself (whom we've met and wouldn't expect to be running things). Do you have an opinion on the staff, presumably having met them at the fairs? Our impression was that it would be nowhere near the slick operation that a few others have, but that it wouldn't actually get in the way of us having a good wedding.

If you have any other thoughts for big venues in the Bristol/Gloucestershire area, I would very much appreciate your thoughts!

Damiana, no problem! Photographers are our biggest concern, I think, so if you've come across anyone who gave you confidence, that would be very useful. We're over a year away from the wedding, so we haven't looked at hairdressers yet, but it sounds like Ruth could be useful!

i think that we might have to have a couple of conversations, as i too am over a year away!

The only problem is that i dont have any family/friends in the area but we fell in love with the venue!

Gosh, now I'm really not sure. We had our hearts set on Great Tythe Barn, but then we saw the bad reviews and we don't know if they're the two exceptions out of 100. Did you look at GTB as well, Em Jane? What made you not go for it, if so?
