So... booked for April 2022 just me, H2B and my 3 kids from previous marriage and our 2 together (one not yet born!).
Gretna Hall Courtyard for the ceremony. Smiths hotel (Bensmoor 2 bed family suite as we all need to stay togther due to my eldest being only 15 when we marry) for accomodation and meal.
No reception or cake, may do that when we get back,,, maybe not.. undecided!
So far I have booked a local taxi service to take us on the short drive to and from the venue.
Complete Bride booked for my hair/make up and eldest 3's hair.
Hoping to book either Chloe G or Alison B (Elite) when I have deposit for photos (having digital only, will print at a later date)
Flowers not yet sorted but have a few recommendations as I definitely want fresh this time.
Dress I will either risk online again (China).. did this first time around 10 yr ago and got lucky but I also just discovered Wed2B and there's a store not too far. Currently pregnant and need to lose weight so this will have to wait, as will any dresses for bridesmaids (all 5 girls) as they'll all have grown lots by then!
I already ordered-
H2B suit, shirt, tie and pocket square, shoes
My shoes and earrings
Rings for both
Not bad to say I didn't book it until last weekend!
Found out H2B married last time round at my original venue choice of The Mill Forge, he didn't remember which venue and it'd changed a lot since so he didn't recognise any photos/videos. Thank goodness his copy marriage certificate arrived in the nick of time to avoid me wasting money booking it!
Still need his copy of his full birth certificate and also copy of his Decree Absolute from his last marriage for the legal stuff but have plenty of time yet and ordered last week...
Anyone else had a small/low key Gretna wedding?
I will miss the party element and first dance but am still not sure if it's a bit weird to have a reception when we get back and wear dress etc as it won't be the actual day... any advice/opinions?
