Groom's present box for the morning of the wedding... any ideas girls?

MrsPtobe2016, 25 July, 2016 at 14:10 Posted on Planning 0 12

Hi all!

My OH and I decided that we would like to leave each other a gift to open on the morning of the wedding and OH suggested a budget of £100 (!)

I am racking my brains trying to think what to get him - he isn't a spirits drinker, doesn't wear jewellery so a watch or anything else is out of the question (although is excited at the idea of a wedding ring ? ) so far i'm thinking of getting a nice box and including...

Aftershave

Cufflinks - with either the date of the wedding, the co-ordinates of where we met or anchors (we met on a boat!)

A book called 'don'ts for husbands' (was written in 1913 I think it is, and it looks pretty funny)

Passport holder for our honeymoon

a love letter

a keyring (?) or something with our wedding date on

A few cans of guinness (I wanted to do a hip flask etc but as he doesn't really drink spirits it seems a bit pointless!)

I was also thinking of getting some kind of breakfast hamper for someone to bring round to him on the morning of.

What do you think?

x

Ahhh, this sounds like a lovely idea! What about a new pair of socks and pants? You could get him some nice ones, or some silly ones that say The Groom, or property of Mrs P

The breakfast hamper sounds perfect! My OH was planning on going to the cafe for breakfast otherwise I would do something like this for him, otherwise he would just go without food!x

Haha, that is exactly the reason I thought of doing the hamper.. I don't want him to end up not having anything to eat on the morning of because he's busy getting ready/running around/writing his vows at the last minute ! I was thinking of putting in cute little jams and pastries and stuff but that is more me than him, I think he would prefer the basket to contain a few fresh bacon rolls, and optional guinness/coffee (his choice on preference!) ? so might have to discuss with his best man and see what we can do Smiley smile

Oooh.. I like the socks and pants idea... it would definitely have to be some sort of amusing novelty ones, to see his reaction (and if he actually wears them on the day!)

Or the socks that say on the packet so you don't get cold feet. I like the mix of serious gifts and silly things. Check it love books on Google. Oh build it up yourself so it's personalised. Stick figure pictures that are personalised to look more like you and each page you chose is a sort of i love you because.

    Mints in the box too?

I got a lush book from America for my groom's box - it wasn't cheap but it's so sweet and personal

I'm doing a little box of pressies too ?. So far I have cufflinks with 'you and me' on one, and the time and date of the wedding on the other. A Ladybird book called 'The Husband' (there is one for The Wife too if anyone is interested). A daft t-shirt with 'under new management, just married on it', and will be putting together a scrapbook of our lives together with photos and gig tickets, and any slushy quotes I find. Was also thinking along the lines of special wedding pants and socks, but haven't found any yet. Maybe a little bottle of whiskey for courage lol. Hamper idea sounds good, but I'm pretty sure a wedding won't get in the way of my fella and his breakfast!

Oh I've got a good slushy (?) Quote on my fridge.

"I love being married, finding that one special person I want to annoy forever"

    Lol.

I LOVE this idea! When I asked OH what sort of budget we are thinking for wedding presents, he went "oh, we are meant to get each other presents?!" Haha. I've been planning on which watch I'm going to get him since he proposed, but would love to put a little box together as well - you've come up with some really love ideas here. Lucky groom! Smiley smile

Oh I love that! it makes me wish he was into the idea of wearing a watch! I kept saying I wanted to get him a pocketwatch (as he's wearing a waistcoat and I love the idea) but I feel like its more for me than him now as he thought it was a bit 'out there'. (Although he saw one of his friends with a waistcoat/pocketwatch at our other friends wedding and was slightly more convinced, cue lots of me going 'see! see!' in the background lol)

So many good ideas here, thanks everyone. I will look into the Ladybird book and see if its better than the old fashioned book of 'don'ts'... I sort of want to go for keepsakes/special but a bit funny and personal too. I love the stickman style books too, never seen those before :-)

Ha ha Jayne that's pretty much what we always say to each other...is it a magnet? I might have to see if I can find one! ?

I'm doing a box and have:

Socks - so he doesn't get cold feet

Minature Gin and tonic - to give him courage

Glass for drink with engraved See you at 1pm Love <my real name> 14.05.2017

The Ladybird book Wife to give him a giggle

A snickers bar (he has one each work day at lunch) - to give him energy

A embroidered hankie - to catch a tear (probably mine, but i don't have pockets)

a bag of haribo - so he has a spare ring Smiley winking

Watch (same as he wears at the moment, engraved with our wedding date) - to get to the ceremony on time.

I like the breakfast hamper idea tho, may keep that in mind.
