Guests traveling for just reception?

Hello,


Very early in wedding planning, maybe going about things the wrong order. We're probably going to get married next September or October. Currently we are thinking a small ceremony in the city centre and then a relaxed reception about 30mins out of town with a ceilidh and hog roast/ street food.
My question is about guests who will be travelling a long way to join us. We do not live near alot of our friends and family with most people travelling 200miles plus, some from across the pond as well. Given how far they are traveling would it be expected they be they be a ceremony guest as well as reception?
Our initial small family only reception is quickly growing much bigger than we anticipated...
