guinea fowl - tastes different to chicken?

Gone With The Whinge, 28 March, 2008 at 18:02 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 4

We've moved to an Ocado area, oopsie. Browsing the poultry & game section now. Does guinea fowl taste a fat lot different to chicken? I remember having poussin and being distinctly underwhelmed.

Cheers in advance.

It does to me, we've done the Waitrose poultry & game section over the last few weeks - I keep getting mixed up with guinea fowl, partridge and pheasant, one I really liked, another was ok and one I didn't like at all and I have a feeling that was the guinea fowl...

The one I didn't like was very little, and the meat was very solid - would that be guinea fowl?

Maybe a proper foodie rather than me the wannabe will be more help ?

Guinea Fowl is white meat like chicken. In fact my FIL said this is very 'chickeny chicken' when I cooked it for dinner when they were here.

    I love it.

I like guinea fowl, it's slightly deeper in flavour imo, but still distinctly chickeny ?

Ahh, so they are meant to taste like chicken, then. I thought it was my common palette ?
