Hackney Town Hall limiting numbers

Claire, 8 August, 2021 at 21:01 Posted on Planning 0 1

Hi,

We are planning on getting married on September the 3rd and have been told by our venue that we have to limit our guest numbers to the ceremony (from 100 to 65).

They state that because they are a council building they are governed by PHE and are doing 1m + social distancing.

I must admit I was a bit shocked, considering from the 19th July social distancing has been stopped and from 16th of August if you are in contact with covid and fully vaccinated you don't have to isolate.

I understand that they are trying to do the best for their staff and guests but is anyone else having any problems with venues limiting numbers?

    Hi,

I think this is standard now unfortunately. We've been told a few days before our wedding (and only because I asked!) that the capacity at Southwark register office has only been increased to 37. Luckily we've invited fewer than that anyway, but I feel sorry for people who are going to have to uninvite guests at the last minute.

If they had said we had too many people my plan was to restrict guests to close family and people that had travelled a long way to be there, and ask everyone else to either wait for us outside so they could at least be part of the confetti throwing, photos, etc. when we came out, or to just go straight to the reception if they preferred.
