I think it would work, although if you wanted the longer strand part to go across the front of your hair (rather than towards your ear) then you'd have to wear it on the right-hand side of your head. You'll need extra pins on top of the comb to keep it secure, particularly if you go for an all-down style.

Have you asked the designer if they can make it onto a side tiara?
