Hair and Makeup

Rach, 11 July, 2025 at 12:35 Posted on Beauty & Wellbeing 1 9
Hi, I’m getting married in 2027 at a venue which opens at 9am but I can’t get until 9:15am.
My ceremony is at 2pm and I have myself, 6 bridesmaids and my mob who want hair and makeup.
Can I ask what would be best to have a seperate hairdresser and separate mua or have 2 mua who also do hair? I’m just worried about time running out. I also don’t want to spend a fortune as I’m paying for all of it. Any help much appreciated please x

I think it might be more focused on figuring out the timing and logistics side of things right now. It can be tricky to plan hair and makeup for that many people before a ceremony, so having a clear schedule and enough stylists on hand will be key.

I got married at 12pm (early, I know), and had 4 bridesmaids, a flower girl and my Mum to sort out. I DEFINITELY recommend having separate MUA and hairdressers - it meant we could start at 6am (!) and get us all done for 11.45 as they could be doing two at once Smiley smile

I’d definitely recommend having a bigger team so things run smoothly, especially since you’ve got quite a few people to get ready before your 2pm ceremony. Two MUAs who also do hair can often be more cost-effective than hiring separate specialists, and it helps avoid running over time. You could also ask if they offer Hair Extension services if you or your bridesmaids want extra volume or length for the day.

I'm in a similar situation. My ceremony starts at 2:00pm and we can't get in until 9am. I also have x5 for make up and x8 for hair. Being a hairdresser myself i have done many weddings and i know that you're going to want at least 30 minutes before your ceremony starts to allow for running a little late, the meeting with your registra and any final touches. I have hired x1 MUA and x2 hairdressers. Going for relatively simple hair styles will make things quicker but if needs be if you hair separate hairstylist and MUA they can do 1 person at the same time if they really need to. When booking with either they will obviously ask how many you have and will most likely know someone that they can bring along to help them and give you a time line for the morning.

I hope that helps a little Smiley smile

Hey! I’m in the same boat for my 2027 wedding and totally get the timing stress. With that many people, I’d 100% recommend separate hair and makeup artists – it saves time and stress, especially with a 2pm ceremony and a late venue entry.

I’ve also started prepping my skin early – using Nurify Skin has been a game changer! My makeup sits so much better now. Honestly, good skin prep is just as important as the glam.

Wishing you the most gorgeous day! 💕 You’ve got this! x

This is such an important decision for your wedding day! Based on experience, I'd highly recommend hiring separate specialists for hair and makeup, especially with a larger bridal party. Having dedicated artists for each service significantly speeds up the process and reduces stress.

For a party of 8 people needing both services before a 2 pm ceremony, consider having one makeup artist and two hairdressers. This setup allows three people to be worked on simultaneously. Also, planning to be ready 30-45 minutes before you actually need to be creates a crucial buffer for any unexpected delays.

Wishing you a beautiful, stress-free wedding day! For those in the bridal party, remember that looking after your overall wellness is just as important - this includes cardiovascular health, which you can learn more about at the Heart & Vascular Center Of North Houston .

If your budget allows, it’s definitely worth having two hairstylists and two MUAs so they can work on people at the same time. It makes the morning feel so much more relaxed and fun rather than rushed.

If that’s too much, see if your main artist can bring along a junior or assistant — it’s often cheaper but saves a lot of time.

Make sure they give you a proper schedule (who’s first, who’s last, etc.) so it all runs smoothly.
