Hair & Make Up

ExpensiveIvoryFlowers58781, 14 July, 2021 at 10:22 Posted on Beauty & Wellbeing 1 6

I am trying to organise my hair and make up for my wedding at the end of September but struggling to find people and those who are available say I need to book before having a trial. Isn't the purpose of a trial to try it out before buying? Is anyone else having that problem? Or do I just go with it and hope? Thanks

I had to book before having a trial, I think that’s standard practice but could be wrong.

I had to pay a deposit to secure the wedding date, then I booked my trial.
If I didn’t like the trial and decided not to go with her, the money for the deposit would of been used to pay for the trial/ refunded.

I think where the beauty industry is so busy now restrictions have lifted and they can operate again, they are struggling to fit everyone in. My MUA is fully booked for weekends until November with weddings that have moved/proms plus new weddings etc. I think they are asking you to book and secure the date ASAP so if you do decide to go with them after the trial then you won’t be disappointed if they don’t have your date available. Imagine you went for a trial, loved it but they couldn’t actually do your wedding date. You’d be fuming and so disappointed. Least if you book before then you know they are free for sure

That was the standard for everyone I looked at, I just made sure to pick suppliers who had lots of great images on their social pages so I could see examples of their work which really helped. I will also book my trial with ample time so that if I really don't like it there is time for another trial (but sure it won't come to that!)

I've booked before the trial, but I went with a company where I can cancel and get the deposit back as long as it's 6 weeks before the wedding. I've got my trial 8 weeks before so If I decide against it I can cancel the booking and will have just paid for the trial. I'm getting married in mid September and was struggling to find available stylists a few months ago.

Yes you would have to book before having the trial but some don't take a fee until after your trial, or just a small deposit to hold the date. Instagram is great for checking out people's work so you can find someone whose style you'll like.
