Hair/Makeup Recommendations, near Edinburgh?

Hiya, I was in exactly the same position as you last year as we got married just outside of Stirling but we live in Cambridgeshire, so had to do all our planning online too.

For my make-up I used Lynne Mills from Eye Candy https://eyecandyscotland.co.uk/ who was brilliant! On the day, after she had done my 16 year old (fussy) bridesmaids make-up she litterally sqealed with delight she loved it so much!

Lynne recommended a few hair stylists and I chose Gwen Avinou from McKenzie Hair Design: https://www.mckenziehairdesign.co.uk/ who was also lovely.

Organising my trials was a nightmare because due to various things I had to keep rescheduling but both ladies were really understanding and always very helpful. I eventually had my trial at Lynne's studio where Gwen very kindly came too. Both ladies travelled to our venue on the morning of the wedding.

Have you sorted out your videographer yet? The guy we used was absolutly amazing and after requesting samples from practically every videographer in Scotland (I am a fussy moo) his work really did stand out as one of the best. I found some really good suppliers who went out of their way to help me so if you need any help with anything else, just let me know.

MrsKitty, thats brilliant, thank you! Eye Candy were actually on my shortlist and I've just had a quote through from them. I feel really wary about booking something so personal like makeup without recommendations so I am so glad you liked them! I don't know how I feel about booking without having a trial first - is that normal? I am also very fussy and can have temperamental skin so need to get someone I can trust to make me look good...!

I have booked my video thanks, we've booked smokescreen productions (after reading a recommendation on here actually). They are based down south somewhere but are travelling up to Scotland for us. I will definitely look at your highlights and pay special attention to your hair and makeup :-)

I know what you mean, I was really worried about booking without a trial first and I will admit that if I could have, I would have flown up for a weekend and had as many trials with as many people as I could have had, as hair and make-up is so important, but that was just not possible as last year was one of teh most hectic years of my life, and not just because we were planning a wedding!

I should point out that in the video you will notice that my hair did drop by the time we cut the cake but that was not the stylists fault. You see it rained on our wedding day but as it was only light we braved it and had a lot of outdoor photographs. I have very thick, long hair and the damp and the drizzle wrecked my style, but it was worth it as the outside 'couple shots' are my favourite of all my photographs.

I had a makeover by Eye Candy as a prewedding treat given by a friend and they were excellent.

Good luck, Lynne is fab so I hope she will travel out to you. She quite happily travelled to us in Alloa but did charge for it, although it was not a lot and it was worth it to have Eye Candy do my make-up!
