Halifax 10% regular saver

Sunset21, 11 June, 2008 at 10:27 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 3

I'm a thickie, I admit it lol! I'm just wondering if it's worth messing about paying in some of our ISA savings into this new Halifax account, over a 12 month period. If I paid in, say £3000 over the course of the year what interest would I actually be getting, roughly, after tax? Or is that an impossible question?

Have a look on moneysavingexpert, the guides on there are always very useful.

Last time the halifax had one of these accounts it had so many restrictions on it it wasn't worth bothering with for me.

I did a similar one, paying 10% for MissSun, obv. it was a childrens account so was tax free. It was a real hassle to set up, I must admit, but I thought if it was going to give us a good payout then it was worth the hassle.

There don't seem to be any restrictions, other than having to pay a sum monthly by SO. I'll have a look on moneysavingexpert though and see what they say.

i looked at it briefly yesterday - you have to elect one of their other accounts to transfer the money after the 12 months and none of them looked that amazing at first glance - so i would just check there isnt some kind of tie

Yes, that was the hassle bit with MissSun's. As long as there isn't a tie, like you say, in the other nominated account then I can just close it when the 12 months are up. I think i'll go in and check. MrSun will probably tell me not to bother anyway.
