Has anyone done or considering a multi destination honeymoon?

xoxoxo2017, 8 July, 2014 at 19:06 Posted on Honeymoons & Getting Married Abroad 0 31

H2B and I are quite different in our wants for a HM so having to reach some form of compromise which is kinda hard!

He fancies carribean, cuba, mostly relaxed, fully inclusive, etc. He's also suggested perhaps a cruise where we stay 3 nights in Havana and cruise round cuba for 7. Still "samey" for me though.

I do like beach and relaxing but I'm more of a "i want to see, do and explore" type of person. My ideal would be Las Vegas, Mexico, Jamaica.... or Bali, Singapore, Dubai, India, etc

Trying to combine these is proving difficult, and although some travel wesbites say they do "multi centre" holidays, there isnt anywhere to package one together.

We went to cuba earlier in the year and did 4 days in havana and 10 at a resort. If we were to go again we'd spend more time in havana. Maybe a week at each would suit you better? When we were at the beach resort we did a couple of day trips it's not just all sitting about sunbathing.

I would definitely recommend cuba. We booked through Thomas Cook. Had to go into a branch, we couldn't do it online. They were really good though

I would go to Cuba sooner rather than later before it changes and becomes a clone of so many other places. I'd love to go but my fiancé is American so if I do go, it'll have to be on my own. And I'd rather go now and not later when mass tourism hits. Already there are samey package-holiday type resorts cropping up all over the island, which is a shame.

For or my first marriage we went to Tahiti and New Zealand. Tahiti was relaxing and doing not very much then we backpacked across both islands of New Zealand for three weeks. Loved it! Was probably the best part of the marriage....

We did a week touring Sri Lanka and a week on the beach in the Maldives. It was a Kuoni trip but booked through Blue Bay Travel who were cheaper.

You won't be able to get quotes for multi-centre holidays online - you'll need to call or pop in to a shop. I'd definitely recommend trailfinders. Thomas cook signature and thomson worldwide are ok too. (Neither are anywhere near as expensive as Kuoni! Although the kuoni experience is great - you get a glass of bubbly while you go through ideas!)

We did NYC and Aruba and had a brill time - loved the contrast of city and beach.

Cuba is great for a multicentre as Havana is so full of culture and somewhere like Varadero is full of beautiful beaches. It is easy to book the multicentre bit yourself and not go through a travel agent. It's much cheaper also. We recently travelled to Varadero for two weeks and then got a bus to Havana for (from memory) approximately 3 hours for about £10 per person. It was so easy and a bit of an adventure.

We are planning a multicentre honeymoon in Thailand at the moment and I have also done this before, last time going to Bangkok and Phuket. It is another great option.

I second Thailand. We've been going there the last 4/5 years and every time we've gone we've done various places in one trip. You get the stunning beaches for relaxation, then can go elsewhere for things to do! I would recommend somewhere like Koh Samui or Maybe Phi Phi island for proper chill out beach time - we stayed at Outrigger phi phi island resort and it was amazing! We stayed when it was under different management so can't comment since it's changed to outrigger but still seems to get very good reviews on trip advisor. The hotel was full but every day on the beach we pretty much had it to ourselves! I would recommend maybe a fe weights in Bangkok and 3/4 nights in Chiang Mai for things to do! If you go to Chiang Mai you have to visit Elephant Nature park, it's one of the few proper sanctuaries in Thailand that actually look after elephants and rescue them. They roam free but you can go into the park and visit and wash them in the lake! If you had time, depending on how long you were going for, we once did Thailand with a short trip to Siem Reap in Cambodia which was amazing! We did that across a 16 night holiday. Personally, I have found it's way cheaper to book all the individual parts yourself rather than go through a rep for a multi-stop holiday. I know it's more hassle but for our internal flights using a company like air asia, we got flights Bangkok to Chiang Mai for £20 return. With Thailand and a lot of other places in Asia you can get good deals by emailing hotels directly, and the service there is amazing, we've very often been upgraded for no reason at all! It does take a lot of work though doing all the individual bits yourself, so just depends if the cheaper cost outweighs the time you have to spend doing it! Sorry for the long post, hope this helps!

We are the same! Currently looking at New York and then Mexico though ... Las Vegas and Mexico would work too! Do Lv first to exhaust yourselves then relax in Mexico, not far apart at all. Avoid package holidays if you can't find one make your own. Las Vegas hotel through expedia, opodo for multiple destination flights, and any Mexican resort you like find through google.

We really want to go to New York, Miami, Vegas, San Jose (h2b loves the ice hockey team) and L.A but I very much doubt it will be happening. It's too much money. I fit in a suitcase so if anyone want take me with them please do.

We're having a similar dilema. I don't like being hot and h2b doesn't like the cold. We're getting married next September and I think we're going to go to New York for Christmas (I've ALWAYS wanted to do this) because I love the snow and all things Christmassy and then Mexico for a week. Mexico will apease h2b because he'll get his sun fix!!

An adviser from Viring holiday has emailed me a quote, I just filled in the contact form on the website and she emailed me asking questions, very helpful!

    :-)

Not exactly multi destination, but we are doing Route 66! Chicago - LA, then San Diego and Vegas at the end! Would highly recommend trailfinders if you want to build your own though!

We're doing New York then Antigua. Contacted a few travel agents through their contact us bit on their websites and then dealt with it all over email. Eventually booked through Thomas Cook as their quote was £1000 cheaper than anyone elses!

£1000 cheaper for the same arrangements? That would make me suspicious that they had got something wrong.

Sorry I should have explained better. Originally we were looking at New York & Barbados, TC looked a bit further and had a hotel in Antigua (Sandals) that was on 2for1!

I would like to know your budget. If you are considering cruise trip then you can check out Belize... Its amazing! There is a cruise ship called Blount (Blount Small Ship Cruise Adventures - United States) . This is a river cruise ship. They also have the option of personal cursing. They have many such destinations.

Belize is my personal favorite. Choosing the destination is entirely up to your taste. I hope this link would help you in that case to choose your cruise trip : http://www.blountsmallshipadventures.com/where-we-go/

We are kind oh having 3 honeymoons, 3 because I have secretly booked a night in a glass igloo after our Lapland wedding (that isn't a honeymoon it's a week long snowboarding party- my oh fancied it but we couldn't justify the cost, I got made redundant and a new job but there were a few weeks before my end date I was a stress head so I think he deserves it for putting up with me), then next September we are returning to Reykjavik and New York as we loved them both and wanted a "city break" whilst we decided what our real honeymoon would be.... So the real honeymoon is a trip to Malawi with friends as one of them runs a nursery project and sustainable farming project (though we think they are getting married out there as they said in the past that part of there wedding would be a tribal blessing) from there off to Livingstone in Zambia to see theVictoria Falls before a safari

If you wanted to twin somewhere in the states with the Caribbean, would you consider booking the flights yourself? We are finding this much cheaper than booking a package through a travel agent. It also gives you more flexibility and you can get exactly what you want. We are doing Las Vegas and Bahamas. We will make NY our 'hub' and fly Glasgow to NY Then onto Vegas - stay in Vegas then fly down to the Bahamas which is working out really cheap. From the Bahamas we will then fly back to NY (again a really cheap flight) and catch our return flight home.

We went to New York and Barbados which we really enioyed, they were a good mix of city break and relaxation which we like. I would love to have gone to Japan or Sri Lanka and the Maldives but we were just too far away from them -we got married in Las Vegas.

My colleague just got back from a honeymoon in San Francisco and Hawaii.

San Fran has lots of culture and things to do like see the golden gate bridge, Alcatraz, amazing food and some really quirky nightlife- but is also a stopping point to fly to Hawaii! Hawaii can be as active a holiday or as relaxing as you want. Loads of volcano hikes, water sports, and cocktails. You can even do a cruise around the different islands. Depends on your budget. San Fran is the probably the most expensive city I've visited and I've been to LA, London and Tokyo.

I'd better not let my H2B read this thread! Smiley smile

Although he was born in Santa Barbara he lived in San Francisco from being a child until recently. And he hates it when people call it San Fran. We love it there and we may even settle there permanently instead of Washington when my green card is issued. I disagree that it's more expensive than London or Tokyo but it depends on what you do and how you do it, I suppose.

I also need help with this! Both I and H2B aren't the kind of people to laze around for 2 weeks in the same place. We like adventure as well as a bit of relaxing. We were looking at 4 nights Vegas, 4 nights Miami (or San Fran but it's so expensive) and then 7 nights all inclusive at St Lucia/Cancun.

We are also looking at the option of Thailand. We were looking at 3 nights in Bangkok, 3 nights in Chiang Mai and then 7 nights all inclusive on Koh Samui. My only problem is that the weather seems rather rubbish whenever I look? I mean it's hot but it seems to rain all the time in June/July when we would be going.

Anyone been to Thailand at this time of year that can advise? Any other suggestions would be helpful!

We are staying in Dubai for 4 nights and then Maldives for 8 nights.... ?

Dubai has loads to do, we have booked a desert safari, will be exploring the Malls and souks, might visit the aquarium and the indoor ski resort... the Burj Khalifa... and then the Maldives we are chilling out although we have booked a larger resort as they have lots of water sports, tennis courts and games rooms etc .. so I guess we have the best of both worlds :-)

    Hi kellytobe81

The only part of our honeymoon we have actually booked is 7 nights stay in the Bahamas.
We are looking to spend roughly £900 each on flights which we will probably book through sky scanner. (This is based on the price of flights when I looked them up for the same time this year.)
We are hoping to spend four nights in Vegas which is roughly £400. This will depend though on flight times and prices, we might add another night on if it works out not too much dearer!
If you would like more detail such as specific hotels or breakdown of flights please feel free to private mail me - didn't want the post to become too long winded :-)

    Hi,

me and my fiancé just came back from a holiday travelling west America and Hawaii. It was fantastic because not only do you have the action side of things you have the chill out time in paradise in Hawaii. We booked the whole trip through american sky and they do really good deals and prices.

    We started in LA, got a convertible mustang upgrade for free as part of the package through american sky. From LA we went to the following;

Palm Springs, phoenix, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Death Valley, yosemite, San Francisco, monterey, ventura and then back to LA and then from there on to Hawaii!

Hawaii seriously is paradise on earth and if you are in west America it really is worth the trip to Hawaii. (That's where we've decided to get married!)

American sky do so many different multi centre trips tho and tailor it to your needs.

    Hope this helps!

We've gone for Twin Centre in Thailand. 3 nights in Bangkok and 10 nights on Koh Samui. We originally wanted to do Vegas and Jamaica but prices for the Jamaica part were quite high at the time of year we wanted (We get married in July).

We decided to book our honeymoon ourselves rather than through an agent as it seems like they were all ripping us off. The quotes they gave us were a lot higher than doing it ourselves using the same flights and hotels!

Originally we were considering the Us and Caribbean or Thailand but decided not to pick Thailand because of a few reasons. I really wanted to go to Ko Samui but a lot of people I know that have been there said it was awful and they couldn't wait to get back onto the mainland. We love the US and thought this suited us much better.

In the end we decided to fly to Vegas for 5 nights and then fly to Miami. From Miami we are getting a 7 day Bahamas and Caribbean cruise. After the cruise we will then spend 3 nights in Miami Smiley smile Perfect! It's probably worked out at about £4,500 for us both.
