Hate my wedding dress!

RomanticPurpleBridesmaid37365, 6 March, 2021 at 09:58 Posted on Planning 0 14
Hi everyone,

I know there’s nothing I can do about this so I’m really just posting to see if there is anyone in the same position. I really don’t like my wedding dress anymore (it’s the Pronovias Emily) ? I had no clue what I wanted and looking back I just got the best of the 15 dresses I tried on that day. It just feel really basic and boring and like every other bride.
I know I probably won’t care on the day but I am annoyed with myself that I don’t love it - I barely like it!
Has anyone else felt like this?

Hey, I don’t have my dress yet but this dress is absolutely stunning and so intricately detailed. I think it’s natural to go through phases with second guessing yourself, but it truly is a gorgeous dress X

I agree, that dress is gorgeous.

All the stuff going on at the moment, has perhaps taken the shine off your wedding preparations. I’m sure you’ll feel different once you try it on again!

My dress, I wasn’t sure about when I first tried it on and I thought I loved another, but then I couldn’t stop thinking about it, so knew it must be the one.

I don’t think your dress looks boring in the slightest, but if you think it does need jazzing, have you thought how you can use a veil to do that?

That is my big fear. I bought a dress on the eve of lockdown 2.0 and haven’t been able to try mine on since it came in in December. I’m rebooked to try it on 12th April and am keeping everything crossed I love it still else I’m screwed x

Thank you. When I went shopping I only went to two shops and really wanted to keep it under a budget of £1,500. But now the rest of the wedding has become much more expensive I regret not spending an extra £600-700 and getting something I really love. I just feel like I settled reallySmiley sad But I know I like it....I just don’t love it and I wish I didSmiley sad

I’ve ordered a headpiece headband thing which might make it look a bit better.
Thank you for you feedback though - I’m sure I’ll feel better once it’s arrived!

Know that feeling. Our wedding is costing twice as much as I initially thought so now worry my dress is too simple.

Think I’ll end up blinging up my headpiece and wearing a veil to add some pizaz x

Ha I’m glad I’m not the only one! Before I knew it ours was double what I initially wanted too - think I totally underestimated everything! Yes get yourself some lovely accessories and I’m sure you’ll love it x

    Hi

Just wanted to say your dress is absolutely stunning. What about one of those diamond belt things to go round the waist? They tend to jazz up dresses.

It's a stunning dress, but if you feel its too simple you could always ask the seamstress to add something to it to make it bespoke x

This is similar to me I got my dress in feb 2020 for a planned wedding on a cruise in Italy in October 2020 then Covid changed plans to a uk wedding in November 2020 then Covid struck again and we moved again to May 2020 well by that time I had planned a several different weddings venues and seasons and I fell out of love with my dress I also felt I didn’t love it that it wasn’t the one and I had settled. It felt too fussy too fitted and not me. Dress one was wed2b Constance ( I am trying to sell it) lace
Mermaid dress so very pretty just not my one. So during lockdown I looked at preloved sites - bridalreloved is incredible also stillwhite and I found my exact dream dress brand new (they also have samples and new gowns) by pronovias usually 1800 for 750 plus 12 pounds delivery. It is a 14 I am a 12-14. I didn’t even try it on as all their shops (they have them across the uk) were closed which was a big risk! But they do take a deposit until
You can get to heir shops anyway so it came last week and is literally exquisite I feel like a bride and a princess. Your dress is beautiful but your instinct is your strongest weapon happy international women’s day and messageMe if I can help xx

Thank you for you message that’s really helpful. The bridal shop has actually just messaged saying my gown is in so I’m going on the 12th April (assuming shops open then) so I’m hoping when I try it on and can feel the material etc I’ll feel different.

If not I checked out still white - wow so many dresses on there I wish it looked before going to a shop haha!
Thanks again and good luck with your new dress xx

That sounds like a great plan ☺️ I did the same I took my first dress and put it back on and I knew I was right it wasn’t the one. You will know when you wear it - I always think that the one is the dress you never want to take off it’s that feeling that I had with my second dress xxx

I bought my dress in summer 2019 for my summer 2020 wedding which was postponed to this year, and I had started to have huge dress doubts. I went in to try it on again last Autumn and remembered why I loved it and felt really beautiful, I also talked to the seamstress about some slight tweaks which settled my mind... but now I'm back there again! Try not to overthink it and just wait until you can try it on again. My other bride/married friends tell me they went through exactly the same doubts and all ended up loving their dresses, but on the other hand one of my best friends changed her wedding dress as she didn't fall in love with it when she tried it on again, so whatever happens it will work out! x
