Havaianas

What's the big deal? I need something for summer hols that offers reasonable support and friends recommended these. They just look like normal flip flops. Is there anything special about them?

Thanks.

We do a lot of walking on hols and as much as i'm a flip flop fan, after a while they tend to rub the top of my foot. I tried Havaianas on today and I'm def. getting a pair for my hols in Oct. They are really comfy and i'm sure they won't rub. I want a hot pink pair. Tried the right size in the shop and will order online at a cheaper price.

I love my Havaianas. I've had them for 18 months and they're still going strong. However, I have been told that the newer ones aren't as good and I've been told that Giselle's flip flops are now the way to go.

I'm a bit of a flip flop addict (as my kids at school have pointed out...Mrs A you are always wearing different flip flops!) and have to say I'm pretty unimpressed with my Havaianas. For a start the ones I've got were in between sizes i.e. 3-4 or 5-6 or something like that so I had to get either a bit small or a bit big (probably shouldn't have bought them at that point really! I do like the squashy sole which is v comfy but the toe bit is a bit plasticy really and rubs after a while. Accessorize make the best flip flops imo.

I bought a pair of pink Havaianas on my recent hols in France and wore them practically all week. They are so comfy and don't rub on my feet or anything. Also despite being a fairly light pink colour don't seem to get too grubby either. I'm very impressed with them and am definitely thinking about getting another pair. ?

I really love mine, I have the slim fit ones and have had them for about 18 months, they haven't gone thin on the sole like flip flops usually do for me. They have never rubbed and I can wear them all day and still be comfy. I'll be investing in some more for my holiday in August, quite fancy a purple pair! I clean mine with a bit of Cif which keeps them clean. HTH x

Hmm - thanks for all your replies. Seems to be mixed opinions. I have comfy flip flops from accessorize (which I love BTW sdaisy22) and was just wondering if the Havaianas had some secret extra support or anything. Probably need to get myself to the shops and try them out to compare with accessorize ones.

Hepburn - are the slim fit ones slimmer width-wise? I know that sounds like a really dumb question but it isn't clear anywhere and I'm a wide-footed gal myself!

They just seem to be thinnger around the arch of my foot so you dont get that bit of sole not covered by your foot under the arch IYSWIM?

Most female flip flops go skinny at the arch of your foot, so the slim havianas are the same IIRC??

You can sort of see the difference by looking at these two links side by side

https://www.havaianas.com/en-GB - Normal fit, wider at the arch of your foot bit

https://www.havaianas.com/en-GB - Slim fit, slimmer at arch of your foot

I love my Havaianas and when I lost the pair I bought in Oz on honeymoon last year I was gutted and bought some more. They don't rub me like other flip flops have. However if I was walking a lot I wouldn't wear them as I don't think they provide enough support. I would go with birkenstocks instead.

I have accessorise flip flops and they rub like hell.

I'm not sure whether to get the Havaianas or not now after reading this - maybe I should go back to the idea of croc flip flops.

I second what RBH said - I have Havianna and Birkies - if walking for a long time I always go for the Birkies- they offer me loads more support

Saying that I do have a few pairs of Havianna - I havent tried the Giselle ones yet - but have seen them - might go and have a look

I've just looked at the Giselle ones and realise i've tried those on in Debenhams but I didn't think they'd be very comfy, not unless you have a fairly slim foot, which I don't.
