Help !!

Stbmrs.street, 29 January, 2022 at 10:00 Posted on Planning 0 9
Me and my fiance decided to have an informal wedding meal , we are having a hot and cold buffet similar to an evening reception kinda thing instead of a sit down meal . We didn't want anyone disliking our choice for a sit down so decided this would be better it isn't a posh buffet either but not basic , evening food is bacon baps and wedges but now I'm wondering if people will think it's cheap and nasty and im worried ! We have a budget and we don't want to get in debt over anything as we have 5 children too provide for aswell as live ! Can someone put my mind at rest as I'm such a worrier and think of other people's needs and wants rather than our own . Thanks ❣️

That sounds lovely, and people wil be able to have a bit of everything. More likely to get filled up as well, sometimes sit down meals are so small for what you pay so I think your choice is fine. Bottom line is it is your day and as long as there is plenty of food your guests shouldn't complain or judge. It is sensible to not get into debt so well done on not getting carried away. Hope you have a fab day

Wow, that is a lush menu, I would be made up with that as a guest! So much better than the standard meat and veg! We are having burgers and chips for our main as didn't want the nuromal bland boring meal but am now thinking I want to do what you are doing!

It does sound so nice I just don't want to displease anyone as we are having a big fancy church wedding because to me that's the most special part of the day to us , we are just hoping people don't expect because of that the day will follow as such , we are a down to earth couple and our ideal date would be a sitting indoors with junk food than dressing up to go to a posh restaurant with names of food I can't even pronounce ! We dont want to be something we aren't . So buffet selection and bacon baps and wedges is definitely us ! Burgers and chips sound amazing though I do like a nice burger lol !

I'd far rather be eating that than some of the incredibly posh meals I've had at weddings in the past - it sounds lovely!

You do what you want though - hopefully, your friends and family are coming to celebrate and support you as you make your commitment to each other. If they're going to get picky about the food, they're probably not the kind of people you should be inviting anyway as they don't sound very supportive! As long as there is enough food, the type of food is really down to the preferences of the bride & groom.

You’re 100% overthinking this! I’d much rather eat this than some of the other food I’ve had at weddings. We have a 1 course roast dinner and then a buffet later on similar to yours for the evening reception.

I think if most people were 100% honest they'd rather have a buffet of tasty food than sit through hours of a fancy meal, its just become the done thing. We didn't want that for our day either but I also know I'm a monster if I don't eat a proper meal so we're having 'pub grub' with the few people who will be at the ceremony then the pub is putting on a buffet for evening guests.
