Help dress me for a winter Christening

Iris, 22 October, 2008 at 10:00 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 11

Morning. I have a christening to go to in late December so it's a great excuse for new clothes. It's OK to be quite dressy although I'm not going as far as having a hat. Budget is tight, I love Coast stuff but can't justify spending in excess of £100 on a dress atm as I'll prob also need new shoes and accessories. Not averse to a bit of colour, especially teal/green but equally I like classic blacks and greys. I'm 5'7" and a size 10 but verging on a 12, fair skin, blondeish hair & blue eyes. THat's not meant to sound like a personal ad but it's easier if you have an idea of what I look like. All suggestions welcome.

Thank you.

It is pretty although I tend to wear plain colours as I am dull and boring. I like it though. Thank you.

I'm loving jersey dresses at the moment, I'd love to have reason to buy one!

This Betty Jackson purple one is nice: https://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10001_66152_725933_-1

    Jasper Conran black: https://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10001_66152_688949_-1

    I quite like these too:

Thanks Mrs M, I hadn't thought of Debenhams. I am so stupid sometimes, they have lovely dresses.

I was going to suggest a jersey dress as well. I don't think you want to go ott for a christening. I got a nice one recently at Oasis - they have them in grey, black, khaki and I think violet. You could dress it up with coloured tights, maybe.

I'll add Oasis to my list. It may sound odd but it will be quite a dressy do, it's in a particular area of South Wales where they seem to get really dressed up for such things. At the christening of their previous child I was pregnant and had to wear a vile maternity outfit so I want to do it right this time. There will be people in hats an fascinators but I shan't be one of them. ?

Thanks whitetiger, I quite like that although it may be a bit too patterned for me. Gah I am so awkward.

Monsoon website does seem to have some lovely dresses, I need to go in to town and try some on I think.
