Help! Fake tan disaster and wedding to go to tomorrow!

alison76, 16 May, 2008 at 09:18 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 14

Ok - we're off to a black tie wedding tomorrow.
Last week we were on holiday in Spain and fell asleep on the first day. Consequently I have lovely horiztontal tan marks across my legs from my linen trousers. A kind of half & half leg colour.
Having tried some after sun with self tan to correct which didn't work, I bought the ambre solaire no streak self tan spray - as recommended by Gok and his team this week.

Disaster!!! Streaky and blotchy! No streak is a complete con!!
I have exfoliated and scrubbed with a bathroom scratchy sponge this morning and it has helped a bit but is there anything else I can do to remedy this or will I have to wear tights? ?
Any suggestions?

I also tried this, it is total rubbish. It was uneven and blotchy and all the spray landed on my feet. I had feet that glowed in the dark ?

Isn't there fake tan remover towels? I would try boots or superdrug, i'm sure I have seen them before.

Don't Boots do some sort of tan remover, or have I imagined that?

Glad it's not just me then....and yes....my feet are almost mahogany coloured! [:'(]

I think a mercy dash to Boots at lunchtime it is.

Don't forget it probably doesn't look as noticeable as you think, as you'll have spent a lot of time looking at it now. Maybe ask a friend what they think?

Or you could go and get a salon all-over tan (spray or similar) to even it out and that should make sure it won't streak this time.

I always make this mistake with fake tan (hence why I don't do use it anymore) and leave it too close to an event to put it on and then spend the day with exfoliator and exfoliator mitt trying to scrub it off. But if you do exfoliate loads today try another application and it might even it all out.

But failing that then tights may be your only friend.

No chance of a salon job - am at work all day and wedding is tomorrow - we are up early and travelling to it.

Husband grunted and says it looks fine, but then he's blind in one eye. Might try the girls in the office a bit later.

    Thanks for all the responses.

I had this exact same problem with that spray - no streaks my ***! I had a similar disaster to yours and it took 4 or 5 days to even out and not be noticeable.

Knownowt - thank you so much! At least I know what I'm looking for now.

    Rollerdisco - don't tell me 4 days...argh!

Think I might buy some emergency tights as well.

I had a similar problem when a so called friend did a spray tan for me... H told me all he could think about was the episode from Friends when Ross had a fake tan... charming... the only way I could remove the bloody stuff was by using Veet... it really worked for me so thought I would share. Good luck

I had a fake tan disaster 2 days before my wedding. the girl in the salon was somewhat slapdash in the appliction on my hands and i ended up with an odd combination of brown fingers, yellow hands and bright white blotches round the sides of my hands. i scrubbed, for a long time, with exfoliating gloves and whitening toothpaste. it really worked. if all else fails, then it might be worth having a go with this.

You can get a DIY spray tan in 60 seconds at a salon using their magic machines , are you sure you can't fit that into your lunch hour?

    Good luck!!

Ok, get yourself to boots and get the tan corrector stuff which st tropez sell. you could then go and get a proper spry one as they will know how to cover the stripes. ?

Alison, if you decide to play safe and get some emergency tights anyway, the best 'natural' ones I've found are by aristoc- they are sheer, the colour is 'natural'. You get them in boots and they're in an orangey coloured square packet (I actually get the hold ups, but I imagine the tights are much the same).
