Help! Pew end decoration dilemma!

Bowski, 24 September, 2011 at 16:31 Posted on Planning 0 18

We'd not planned on having anything on the pew ends we're decorating the church with candles and having on floral arrangement on the alter table at the back but we were keeping it minimal as the church is beautiful. (https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Friends-of-St-Oswalds-Church-Kirk-SandallDoncaster/255051391195705?sk=photos) Anyway I'm not sure if we need anything on the pew ends.

This is how the look normally (sorry for the huge photo) What would you do to dress them up?

I'd thought about small wicker hearts or wooden hearts. Whatever it is it needs to be cheap!

Cheapest way would be to get some bunches of Gypsophelia at the local supermarket, separate them into smaller bunches, tie them with ribbon & hang them from the ends of the pews. Every other one would look fine.

How long would that last? We have to set the church up on the Wednesday before the wedding as it's not normally open and thats the only day the vicar can get in to open it up!!

How about using dried bunches of gyp? I've got some bleached Dried Gyp here that can be tied with Ribbon, here is a pic of it in the bouquets:

    How much would they cost?

I'm liking the idea of something just to make them look a bit more fancy.

I would say no more than £3 -£4 per pew for a simple bunch tied with Organza Ribbon. You would only need them on every other pew.

I can do you a mockup one tomorrow to give you an idea.

I love the look of the place - a good, proper old fashioned church.

I would be tempted to keep in natural - either rustic hears, or some loose tied flowers as Sherrie said. We had some little wooden hearts, teeny things about 12-15cm down and probably 5-8cm across. I painted them white, and then used a black liner to make them look cute by lining the edger - you could write little messages on them too - I never found a use for ours, but here is where I got to:

    I'd looked at these ones

Which I's either paint white or burgundy and maybe add some crystals around the edges to tie in with the glittery bits on my dress

    Or these

Which I'd tie with orange ribbon and attach to the pews.

    What do you think?

I like the 2nd ones, more rustic to fit in with the church.

You could add Diamantes to the ribbon for some sparkle.

I have the above first ones upstairs (plan to use them to make personalised gift tags for pressies for family etc).

That said, i'd go with the second too, and would add glittery bits / bows etc
