Help! Shoes sticking to dress!

Lollypoptee, 26 September, 2008 at 23:10 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hi ladies

Just wondered if anyone has had a similar problem before and can help me out.

Went for my first dress fitting last week (will post pics when I have worked out how to get them off my mums camera!) and took my lovely shoes. They have diamantes/crystals all over the top of the shoe (https://www.paradoxlondon.com/BenjaminAdams/Zoom/Marilyn.htm) but they catch on the dress underneath. I am going to wear a hoop so it doesn't damage my dress but they still catch on the netting of the hoop. I am worried I am going to fall over with my feet all caught up underneath!

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Lx

Take up netting at front a bit? how much support is needed just by your feet?

Or put some smooth material inside/round the netting that won't catch?

    Hi Blurp

    Thanks for your suggestions.

I am worried that if I take up the hoop, then it will catch on my dress (does that make sense?). The seamstress said that if I dont have a hoop then it will catch on the dress and possible 'ladder' like tights IYKWIM.

A friend suggested clear nail varnish or sticky back plastic (!)

    Thanks Mel.

Maybe I will give the nail varnish a try. Does seem odd approaching the most expensive shoes I have ever owned with clear nail varnish before I have even worn them properly!! hehe!

Hmm bit confused, couldn't you just reduce the netting by your shoes without taking up the whole hoop?

Clear nail varnish does work very well on tights etc usually, not sure sticky back plastic would be good unless you were going for a stiff space age look ?

Or could you work out the bit of the shoes that catches and see if you can smooth it down?

Ah just realised you meant nail varnish on the shoes and not the net - that makes so much more sense!

    It's too late for thinking!

Change your shoes , sell them and buy others or your dress will be in tatters , i cant belive the shop didnt warn you about that i tell all brides with delicate fabrics to go for a smooth shoe

we see it happen lots with prom girls who wont listen and their dresses are ruined by the shoes
