Help! Shrug / shawl suggestions. Wedding Saturday!

Mogf, 28 of March of 2016 at 20:29 Posted on Planning 0 7

Having brought the wedding forward from August, I have only just considered the fact it is cold at the moment and my wedding is Saturday! I need to find a shawl or something to wear for if the venue is chilly. Where do I look? What do I need? Please help.

I can't quite tell if your dress is white or Ivory (either way, it's beautiful, you look lovely). I would start with the high street - Monsoon, Debenhams etc. What about a faux fur shrug? Or just a cropped cream cardigan? I bet you won't feel the cold - I am the coldest creature on earth and got married on 31st December, but I only wore my short cape a couple of times for a brief period (and to be honest it more was out of politeness, as one of my guests made it for me, than necessity). I look back at our photos now and wish I hadn't worn it in some of our photos as it hid some of my dress.

EEEkkkkk so soon, congratulations! your dress is lovely, our wedding is in 12 days and yesterday it occured to me I'm going to be cold! my dress has a similar neckline to yours and I'm not sure how a jacket would look with it, it has a chiffon overlay so I ordered a ivory chiffon wrap yesterday of ebay just so I have something to wrap round myself between pictures if I really need to, or I might just borrow OHs jacket :-) I'm getting ready at the hotel so won't need to go outside when I arrive.

I had a strapless dress 3 weeks ago and apart from the photos wasn't cold. If anything I was hot. It would be a shame to cover your lovely dress.

Covering the dress is my concern, I want to show it off as it is beautiful. I am hoping that the venue will be warm enough as they have a wood burner, but so many people have told me I'll need something to keep the chill off. I may look at just an ivory shawl then, so I can chuck it around my shoulder if I need to. Thank you!

We got married a month ago and ceremony/wedding breakfast/reception I didn't need a thing BUT I'm a smoker (I know...and I needed something to keep me warm when I nipped out to "socialise" with guests. We had a navy and pink colour scheme and I opted for a crop navy faux fur shrug to wear as and when needed instead of a classic white/ivory one Smiley smile

I saw a pic of someone who had a pashmina in a colour that matched her flowers and bridesmaids etc. Looked lovely. I had a fur jacket. Sometimes I wore it (-37 outside) but didn't for the service (only -7) and i hqve a couple of pics where its just draped round my shoulders. Ive wlso got pics outside in the snow at -26 with just my dress so you dont have to wear it all the time. A pashmina isn't as warm but covers your dress less.

I was in Debenhams yesterday and they have lots of little faux fur shrugs and wraps.
