Help Yorkshire rose buttonhole

ForTheLoveOfMrsBrown, 27 January, 2011 at 17:20 Posted on Planning 0 3

My lovely Yorkshire boy has requested that he and his boys have Yorkshire roses as their buttonholes. As I am pretty much getting my own way in everything else, I am willing to "allow" this he he.

Here is what the rose looks like:

I can't find any though, real or artificial. I'm pretty sure that any similar flower would be OK, it just has to be face-front and open (I'm sure there's a proper florist's word for that) and he isn't bothered about greenery. However, a chiffon hairpiece adapted to be a buttonhole is a no-go, apparently. Can anyone help?

Is it a garden rose? Reason I ask is that if it is, chances are it won't be available commercially. So unless you know someone who grows them, you could be struggling. As a Yorkshire lass myself, when I used to have my shop, I did ready to go white rose buttonholes on Yorkshire Day but I've never seen Yorkshire Roses on sale at the wholesalers.

Thanks for the replies. Sherrie, this one has been approved as suitably "Yorkshire rose"! How do I go about ordering? Can I get it without the green bits? Is it artificial?
