Hen do outfit help! *BT*

pandorasbox, 10 May, 2014 at 17:04 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 8

Please advise/reassure me stylish otters. Going to a sort of legendary hen place next weekend for a meal but am struggling with various issues to get a nice outfit. (Thai in Didsbury for anyone who knows the area!) I know that the bride and other hens will be completely glammed up and I have nothing particularly nice I can wear. Another girl is hugely pregnant with twins but has a load of lovely maternity dress as she is petite and looks great. I just feel mostly fat! I think most of my usual outfits will be a bit drab compared to the other girls. I assume they will be in little bodycon type outfits.

Prob 1 - I have no nice dresses that fit over my little bump without being unflattering on my other lumps and bumps

Prob 2 - If I did get a dress, due to being allergic to pregnancy, my legs are itchy, red, scabby and gross so outfit would need to look ok with tights

Prob 3 - Being 6ft and extra clumsy at the mo I need to avoid heels - I feel like my flats aren't exactly glamorous enough and also look odd with tights/dress

All that being said, what shall I wear? I have a couple of options but am mostly clueless. Help!

1. Jeans Cami Kimono Pumps/sandals

2. Maxi dress - may look a bit strange if weather is bad kimono wedges - similar to these but not as pink. Or maybe some sandals?

3 Any other suggestions?

??????????????

I'd go with option one as it's what i'd feel best in but if you're a dress sort of person the maxi dress is lovely!

Go for comfort most importantly especially with swollen, itchy legs etc it can be so uncomfortable Smiley smile

I would go for the maxi dressings suppose to be warm next weekend. I hated being pregnant would rather give birth 20 times than be pregnant. Next have some lovely things in maternaty wear I've just a a quick look. I'm sure the other pregnant lady is thinking the exact same you know. Make sure you feel comfortable in what you do wear.

I like Option 1 it's classy and looks comfy and if you're worried you're not dressy enough you can add accessories and get a nice blow dry at the hairdressers.

I personally would go with option 1 as it's what I'd feel most comfortable with.

Have you manage to find tall maternity wear? It's something I worry about when I eventually get pregnant. I'm the same height as you and always struggle to find jeans, trousers etc long enough normally, I dread to think about maternity wear!

I have been so lucky and managed to find 2 pairs of tall maternity jeans and 1 pair of work trousers on ebay. My husband bought me another pair of work pants from LTS (rip off at £55). They don't seem to make extra long maternity in most ranges. The longest I can find in asos, next etc is 33 or 34 inch which isn't quite long enough, but with boots I can make them work. Also I can just roll them up and go for the ankle grazer look as the weather gets warmer.

I know I will def be more confident in option 1, but know if I am too casual then that will just make me feel awkward!

Yep the dress is maternity from DP, so not quite full length maxi on me! I'm hoping if I do wear it that it won't too a bit silly with flat sandals, so the wedges are my back up plan if I can manage in them. I could always wear them with the jeans outfit too if it needs to be smartened up a bit.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I might need to wait to see what the weather does on the day.
