Hen ideas

Lisa, 24 January, 2022 at 20:38 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 10
I don't have any close female friends & my future MIL wants to throw me a hen event of some sort & wants ideas. Her only suggestion was afternoon tea. It would be me (41), my kids who will be 19 & 21 very soon & a couple of her friends (late 60s/early 70s).

I'm at a loss of what to suggest!

What about a cocktail master class followed by afternoon tea?

I know my daughter would love that. Wish I knew the older ladies better! I don't know if they're game old birds or very straight laced haha

I am 41 as well and have a small group ( 6 ladies) I have asked my MOH for a Spa afternoon with afternoon tea and then in the evening cheese and meat platter at home with some fizz and a girls night in to just chill. This is my perfect Hen as I don't do going out or bars/clubs or going away, I just hope she has listened to me, as all I know is the weekend is planned for 5th March but nothing else!

Think about what you would like to do as a special treat day and let her know and be clear it is what you want. It is really sweet of her to want to do something but the main thing would be for you and your kids to be happy not so much her or her friends, don't mean to sound harsh, but it is about what you want and is difficult with the age range you have, so it needs to be about you and what you like.

It is really sweet of her, maybe do the afternoon tea with her and the friends and you can maybe do a spa and girls night with your kids, just as long as you are happy, to be honest a hen is not something i am fussed about, I would rather people be at the wedding and be part of our day and I think as you get older certain things really don't matter as much. good Luck, am sure you will work something out

I'm the same, I wasn't planning on having one at all! If it was up to just me I'd love to do axe throwing or something but don't want anyone to break a hip 🙈

How about some kind of crafty event? I've been to jewelry making and pottery painting hen dos, and I know someone who went to a chocolate making one! Just think of something you'd like to learn to do, or something you'd like to have a go at making and add that on to the afternoon tea. Lots of cafes run regular events of this kind and are usually willing to book one specially for a hen do. I used to live near a cafe that did soap making, needle felting, dried flower wreath making, linocut card making & all sorts!

My idea is to have a S.T.E.N.
Stag and hen combined. A British take on the American rehersal dinner. Booked a meal at a local restaurant and invited folks to join us. Simple solution and they pay their own way. In our 50s so drinking to oblivion is not our bag.

It's my fiancé's first marriage so he's never done any of it before I want him to have the 'proper' stag that I know his best mate will be planning. He's not a big drinker but he never has boys nights for some reason, so I think it'll be good for him. I'm usually there when he sees his friends cos we all go to gigs together.

I'm loving the idea of a crafty workshop so far 😊
