hen night let down?

MsSunil, 19 May, 2009 at 11:49 Posted on Planning 0 9

Has anybody been let down by the majority of so called friends when it comes to the hen night? Ive been let down by some stupid excuses. I cant get any money (even though they go out almost every night every weekend) I cant get a day off work (even though I told them the date at christmas) its really pissed me off, feel like not even bothering with one at all. Its only going to be me and my sis and mum and 2 friends, whats the point, im so angry I need to vent it out....

I just know a few of my friends are going to do the same when it comes round to my hen night!

Some people just cant be bothered to make the effort and dont realise how upsetting it is when they let you down at the last minute!

When is your hen night? what are you doing for it?

Im sure it will be great whatever you decide to do

    Sorry to hear this ?

I have no personal experience on this (yet!!) but a group of us hitchers are going on a communal Hen do in London in June if you would like to join us?

If you are interested let me know and I can speak to the lovely hitcher organising it (Bluewater) and get you all the info

At the end of the day the people who count will be there!

Also have you thought of having a couple of hen nights or get togethers pre-wedding - some of these excuses may be genuine!!! I had about 3 to accomodate my friends which was fine!

    Yes I've had this!!

Mine is going out for a meal and cocktails. It's mainly family from h2b's side going, and just a couple of my friends. So I organised one for last Friday with some friends that couldn't come, Thai meal, which was nice.

You'll have a fab night come what may. When is it? Mine is 30 May.

Not had it for my hen night but i've had it for our actual wedding ☹️

despite sending out save the date cards and loads and loads of info about cheap flights/trains/coaches and accommodation A YEAR AGO h2b's uncle has said he is not coming as he can't afford it. and we've also had to pay for his aunt's flights to london as she was uhmming and aaahing about coming cos money was a concern. i understand money is tight at the moment, and they will be having to travel, but they have had the info for A YEAR - might it not have been possible to book cheap flights at that point? and we made sure that we found some reasonably priced b&bs so that this wouldn't be an issue. is made all the more disappointing as h2b's mum will not be there as she passed away 3yrs ago, and the uncle who isn't coming is her only brother, so he would have been 'representing' his mum. sorry for the rant, i know IABU to a certain extent but it's just soooo disappointing for h2b.

crikey, that was quite cathartic. sorry about that.

and the meet is on the 13th june if you want to come and let your hair down with some other hitchers? email me on *******************@*******.**.** if you want to come!!! it'll be fab (of course).

Yeah, we're really sad about it (actually i am sad, h2b is actually sad / angry / majorly pi55ed off).

i think it's especially cos everytime we've seen/spoken/emailed him in the run up, he's always asked loads of questions about it, and has always intimated he's been really excited. and he only let on a couple of weeks ago that he wouldn't be coming.

don't worry we'll have plenty of drinks on your behalfs!

Mine is this weekend, and I had some people who just needed constant reminding of the date, to then say they weren't coming? Having asked 14 we now have 9 (but that includes SiL and Mums) and I truely feel they are my best friends, its not quantity its quality. The others will be peeved when they hear about the great stories from the hen do too!

The only thing I wondered was you said your friend couldn't get a day off work, are you holding the hen do on a weekday? At lot of people are strapped for cash at the mo, have you got some things organised for the day, that people can drop into (that may not be as expensive as the night you have planned) that might help?
