Hen night theme/dress code - please share yours *UPDATED*

The Sock Chicken, 22 January, 2010 at 18:32 Posted on Planning 0 11

Hi, myself and CBM are stuck on what dressing up idea to have for my hen night.

Please can you share what you are having/had.

I don't want anything tarty, and I don't want the usual hen night stuff I see on all the fancy dress sites - police women, angels, army etc.

I know a group of girls who dressed up as old women - grey wigs, baggy tights, slippers, flowery frocks. I like this theme as its quite easy to get hold of an outfit by raiding grannies wardrobe and its definately not tarty!

The old woman thing is brilliant! I was thinking of it after seeing a group out one night dressed like that...for their friend's 25th!!! As i'm almost 30 I was slightly offended!!! Smiley smile

I've decided to just have a Hawaiin flower garland thing going on, as that's where we're going on Honeymoon, so thought it was a nice nod to it, easy, inexpensive and everyone can still look nice wearing what they want, etc. My friend who was going to Mexico asked everyone to wear a sombrero, etc. My other friend just asked everyone to wear a tiara, then her's was done up with a veil, sash etc.

I know there are lots of nice ideas out there that are funny but I think Brides should be conscious of time, hassle and money restraints of their fellow hens!

    Good luck! x

I love the old ladies thing, just not sure how many of my friends would go for it!

Loving the idea of linking the hen night with honeymoon location. We are going to New York and Miami, and the obvious choice would be sex and the city theme. However (fall down in shock or shoot me!) I never got into the programme!

    *UPDATE*

I think we have comr to a decision - Black & Bling

Everyone has to wear black and be sparkly. Thought it would be good for everyone as they can either go for something subtle like simple sparkly jewellery or be more bold and bling up their clothes with diamantes etc. THought this would suit the people who are less keen on dressing up.

I was ging to mention a few hen parties I had seen ie Cow Boys & Indians, Little Bo peep and Her "sexy" sheep but I think your idea of black and sparkly sounds great ?.

I am still none the wiser about my hen ☹️

    Hi All,

I think I'm having a Miss World theme - each girl dresses in the theme of a country - i.e. flamenco dancer for Spain!

I wanted something totally different and think this is perfect for me.

I love the old woman theme! I am so having that one night! Every one will love this!

I've bought a load of typical tacky-ness (it was on sale!) so that will be worn at some stage! Maybe during the day!

We're in discussions of a welly and mack day, as every garden party i've ever had for my birthday in JULY it has always rained! I mean 21 years of rain in july is a joke!

Another one we have though of is to have a worsted dressed / charity shop competition - gives people something to do in the day! We've had worsted dress things at uni and they're fab!
