hen party ideas in Phuket

Sah, 19 June, 2008 at 20:06 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 7

I know there are quite a few people on here who've visited Phuket so thought I'd ask for ideas.

We are off to Phuket for BIL's wedding in October (staying at http://www.indigo-pearl.com ), and the stag and hen parties are happening out there a couple of days before the ceremony so will include parents / aunts etc as well as my H's 12 year old daughter. The boys are doing a fishing trip for the day, and the B2B has just sent an email asking for ideas for her hen party. She's found a couple of hotel spas which do packages, but surely there's something more 'authentic' (for want of a better word) we could do in terms of venue or activity?

Any suggestions welcome - thanks!

What about the lady boy show?

    Simon cabaret?

    https://www.phuket-simoncabaret.com/

We saw the show in April and its hilarious and would be a blast for a girlie night out,I dont see why kids could not go as its very tame,no nudity or anything like that, just lots of very pretty lady boys in dresses dancing and singing.I loved it as a good laugh.

Thanks - it is a little overwhelming in some ways! - I've been looking online at things, the thing is that a) cost is factor - the wedding was slightly 'sprung' upon people so I don't think people want to spend a fortune but b) this may well be the only time I get to visit so I'd like to do something that I wouldn't get to do in any other country iyswim?

Have you been elephant trekking? What's it like? Would you recommend it?

Elephant trecking can be fab,we were lucky we got a really nice place(river kwai)and got to ride them bare back and wash them in the river before we set off on the treck. They were so well cared for I loved it.

However I have been to other places where I have felt sad at how the elephants were kept, not cruely but not happy either.

Guess its luck of the draw,I have not done it on Phucket so have no idea how good it will be,It is something you have to do though.

Option #1: Google "Phuket Richard elephant" and get him to take you on a trip to the Elephant sanctuary. You can ride elephants (rescued ex-working elephants), hang out with a couple of monkeys at the bar, stop off for a drink on the way back. You will get picked up and returned to your hotel. Takes about half a day so plenty of time for a Thai massage followed by drinks in the afternoon.

If you can't find it, let me know - I probably still have his contact info in an old email.

We did this as entertainment at H's company's sales meeting and had a blast!

Option #2: Thai cooking course. There is a place where you can do an all-day course where you go shopping at the market, then cook food overlooking the beach, and eat it afterwards. Someone who accompanies their H at the sales meeting did this one day and thought it was fantastic. I can get details if this appeals.

thanks bostongirl - will look up the elephant guy's details. The cooking day sounds fab, but unfortunately I don't think many people will go for it (I'll suggest it anyway though)
