I got a tartan circle skirt made for me, I love it! Heading to a Scottish theme evening in Edinburgh tonight so may even wear it for that.

Ooh, I love tartan. But you see it around more in autumn/winter than spring/summer, I think. I have a really cute mini kilt that looks great with woolly tights and biker boots.

ID - yes it's not usually around much spring/summer. I love kilts with wool tights and chunky boots - i bet you look great.

Hi girls just wanted to update you all.

I decided to fully embrace the theme and bought this dress from queen of holloway -

It has a royal blue line through it so have purchased these to wear with it

Apologies for giant picture - can't work out how to make it smaller.

I'm really pleased with the outfit and I'm going to 'pick up' a bit of the skirt hem to one side and pin it with OH's clan kilt pin to show off the underskirt more.

Thanks girls. I'm really looking forward to it. There's eight of us going - a regular group who get together for weekends away (always to the same country house hotel) and for dinners/ lunches etc. There's a 30year age gap between the oldest and youngest and we all get on brilliantly. I know they've been planning various surprises for me. they're all such wonderful friends. Not sure how the other guests are going to react - I think we might stand out a bit! We always have a wonderful time there, really excited now.

Quite interested to hear what tartan outfits all your friends turn up in. I might have left it to the last minute and been forced to come wrapped in a tartan picnic rug or something!

I know my MOH has a blackwatch tartan dress similar to mine but gathered at the waist. I know one of the others has a tartan tunic. Beyond that not a clue. I can imagine there might be a few innovative approaches to the theme. Can't wait to see them all.

Now I just have to decide if I wear black patent or pewter mary janes with the outfit.
