Here comes the conservatory/orangery hybrid...exciting!

alyj66, 18 January, 2013 at 20:41 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 37

After months of waiting for OH to come home and agree on the design, the foundations were started yesterday and the bricks have arrived;

this is the start

and should finish off something like this

and then the exciting interior design....?

    The company gave us ceramic flooring, heating, blinds, fan and spot lights in with the price. I can't believe that it's actually started, it's nearly worth OH being away from home 42 weeks of the year!

    It's going to be fab. I'd love something like that but our garden is on a slight slope.

    We've got a cream leather settee for one wall and an ikea chair (bouncy kind of rocking chair) for the other side and a small cane table and chairs to go one side of the existing patio doors. I'm thinking of this colour

    with accents of grey and purple in the cushions and throw. After we've got married I want to put the wish tree and bits in there. The floor is a cream marble effect tile. We don't watch much telly so we're going to put a bose system in there, it should be cosy with the downlights as they're going to be set into a plinth to run all the way round and they're dimmable (is there such a word?)

    I don't know when the plastic and glass bit comes? I'm already dreaming of the summer evenings, doors open (rain lashing in) listening to music.........

    Looking good Aly!

    My H has just started planning a new conservatory as our old wooden one is falling apart. Looking at the plans it'll be like yours but a bit smaller. I think it should be ready by the end of next month. I'm having nothing to do with it - it's too much hassle with a young baby. I'll show an interest though when it's finished though!

    I can't wait until the OH comes home so that we can paint it and get the furniture out of the garage. I'm sure that he will appreciate coming throw shopping with me ?

    Rizzo, it's been a strain looking after myself, the dogs, going to work, sorting out the builders and answering OH's questions on skype. I could not have done this with children too. The mud that the dogs trawled in was incredible and that doesn't include the cement that they walked in straight after it had been poured. I spent a little while with a trowel trying to cover that up! Best to enjoy it when it's all done and pretty.

    Ooh that looks just the sort of thing that I want but have read alot about them being cold in the winter and roasting in the summer. Can I also be cheeky and ask you how much you paid (I understand if you don't want to answer !)

    Thanks Kjay, I hope it doesn't disappoint.

    OH states that he didn't pay £xxx for it to be a drying room come greenhouse, I state that I'm maximising it's potential! It smells all new and lovely ?
