Hi guys,

Emma, 12 February, 2023 at 15:31 Posted on Planning 0 5

I need some help, I've got 4 bridesmaids and a bridesman in my wedding party and was wondering if any of you had any suggestions as to what I can put in his bridesman proposal? Also, how much should I be spending on these proposals and do I get them a thank you gift after as well?

Hi Emma! I got my bridal party cupcakes and a beautiful acrylic cake topper and put 2 each in a beautiful cake box and the toppers said “Mary, will you be my bridesmaid” this would be nice for your Bridesman? It’s up to you what you decide to spend. I’m also getting them thank you gifts. I am buying something each month. (We still have well over a year) I have a basket each that I got from T.Kmaxx they were an absolute steal and I’m going to fill them. I’m getting them slippers that I’m making myself (£19.99 each, but I’m making 6 pairs for under £40 exactly the same) and I’m going to put in a little hangover bag, sun cream all the necessities they’ll need in the day. I do keep changing my mind with what I’m putting in them but it’s exciting making them. Make sure whatever you want to buy you get the best deal whatever you may buy. Enjoy.

I asked one over FaceTime, gave one a card because I was seeing her that weekend anyway and then asked the third one via a drunk text.

There really is no “should” in how much to spend and don’t feel you have to get drawn in beyond what you’re comfortable with.

That being said, I am getting thank you gifts for my wedding party - everyone is getting a champagne flute engraved with their name and a little Prosecco as a thank you.

I've got 2 girls and 4 guys in my party - I didn't do proposal boxes and for all of them I sent them a card where I wrote a long heartfelt letter about what a great friend they've been over the years, and asked them at the end. I had a lot of teary phone calls as everyone recieved them which was so lovely! After both me and FH had our parties confirmed, we invited everyone out to the pub for a celebration where we bought the first round of proseccos for everyone.

They're all getting a good quality thank you present e.g. I'm looking at jewellery from a brand like Monica Viander or Daisy for the girls. I personally think one really nice thank you gift is better than two cheap gifts (one for the proposal and one for the thank you). I guess it's a know your crowd thing as well and I know anything cheap or engraved would just wind up in a drawer somewhere or getting chucked so I'm avoiding that for my people and using my money wisely to do just one gift really well.

Not gifts, but we'll be buying their outfits for the day as well so just something to factor in too with budgets!

It really can be as big or small as you want, it depends on your personality. Myself, I wanted something casual and subtle but I do have other friends who have made it into a full on evening with personalised balloons, boxes, gift etc.

Etsy is really good for some proposal box bits! X
