I would suggest that before you confirm your venue and pay your deposit you confirm registrar availability and book your date with them prior to the venue. Once venue is confirmed you should start looking in to and booking suppliers such as photographer, make up/hair artist and caterers if required, the main thing is to get essential services booked as soon as you have the venue confirmed as their availability may be limited and you may not get the supplier you want. Once you have these booked then you can relax for a bit and then look at outfits, rings etc a bit later, around 9-12 months before. Create a spreadsheet of all the things you need to pay out for and a budget for each item. You can then track what you have spent and actual costs, it is very easy to over spend if you don't have a budget. It is also a good idea to ring round and get estimated costs so you know roughly what you should budget as some things will be a lot more than you think. also consider things you don't actually need, if you are on a budget things like cars and flowers can add hundreds to the cost but are they really needed? We have saved so much by cutting things out that really are not important, we also have friends who are providing services such as out cake, flowers, favours and decorations as our wedding gift and are providing their time for free we are just covering the costs of ingredients, flowers etc. If you have some crafty friends this can be a god send and cut costs. good luck, don't stress, just make sure you are happy with what you are paying for and is right for you to have the day you want X
