His and Hers Drinks

Danielle, 26 March, 2025 at 09:01 Posted on Planning 1 10

Hi everyone! I'm getting married in June 2025 and I'm trying to think of little ways to incorporate personal touches throughout the wedding.

I keep seeing signs on the bar for his and hers drinks, but I was wondering how this actually works? The package we have at the venue is that 2 drinks are given during the drinks reception, then guests purchase any other drinks past that. If we had the budget, we would have loved to offer an open bar but we can't!

Is the his/hers drinks just a suggestion/sign on the bar, similar to a pub/bar, or do people offer discounts/free drinks for those two selections? I'm probably over thinking it!

For his, we're thinking of offering guinness and I was thinking of aperol spritz or pimms for mine. I usually love a cosmo, but this isn't an option.

TIA!

I think it's usually a suggestion - it would be tricky to offer a discount on buying both together because you may have guests who don't have a partner, or one half of a couple doesn't like your choice for 'their' drink! I must admit, I'm not a huge fan of anything that attempts to divvy people's tastes and interests up according to gender. Also, I'd steer away from 'personalised' touches that you have to work too hard at - i.e. if you are having to think this much about 'his & hers' drinks, then it suggests that's not something you feel strongly about, so therefore, it isn't really that 'personal' for you. Instead, I'd let the 'personal' touches just flow out of who you are as individuals and as a couple - that way, you might not have so many of those personal touches, but they will have a far bigger impact, because they will be really authentic, not an attempt to artificially manufacture something 'personal'. Does that make sense?

Do you like light drinks or a little strong? I find that at a party there Geometry Dash Lite are many people from children to young people and the elderly, Geometry Dash Lite so there should be many choices.

Thank you for replying! It does make sense and I agree with how if I'm feeling this effort/resistance it's proabbly something I'm not wanting to actually do and more of a pressure for the "instagram wedding". We've gone with pimms and lemoncello spritz for the garden party drinks which speak for themselves! Thank you x

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding – how exciting! 🥂 You’re not overthinking it at all personal touches like "his and hers" drinks are such a fun idea and can really add to the vibe of your day! In most weddings where a full open bar isn’t an option (totally understandable!), the "his and hers" drinks are usually just suggestions highlighted on a sign near the bar. Think of it like a little nudge for guests to try your favourite drinks, basket random but they still pay for them as normal unless you've arranged otherwise with your venue.

The his and her drinks signage on a bar I take that as if a guest wants to buy you a drink they will buy you what is on that sign, so they don’t have to find you to find out what drink you would like 🤷‍♀️

His and hers drinks are usually just a fun, decorative way to showcase the couple’s favorites. Most of the time, it’s just a cute sign at the bar and not necessarily linked to a discount or free drinks.
