Hog roast yum Oh sorry I don't know the answer but you have made me fancy it now?? I love hog roast and the weddings that I have been to not only have them in a butty but from memory they have it with those little boiled potato's and pees or fresh salad with two slices of hog roast, making me hungry just thinking about it now?

Some hog roast companies can do it as a sit down meal for you. Where are you from? There is one where I am from that do a buffet style sit down. With either hog roast dinner or a hog roast salad and pasta.

I'm looking at having a hog roast as well, I love them and think they're great!

From what I have seen most companies will do side dishes to accompany the hog roast itself, so some salads, pasta and condiments and if you have people sit down at tables it feels more like a meal than a butty!

I don't think it would to be a case of here's your roll, here's your pig, help yourself lol Smiley winking

We had a BBQ in the evening and had lots of salad and pasta to go with it. Will there be something for any veggies? The wedding we attended a couple of weeks ago had a hog roast and a couple of veggie burgers put aside for the non meat eaters.

As a wedding photographer I experience quite a lot of hog roasts! They vary in terms of how they are presented and what the side dishes are. Many only seem to be pork+roll+stuffing+apple sauce.

There are others that do nice dishes to accompany. I had one a few weeks ago in Sheffield that did pasta, new potatoes, coleslaw etc... it was like a full buffet not "just" a hog roast. If you're in Yorkshire send me an email via my website and I can ask the bride which company she used.

I would say it is a good idea to put out an alternative. I went to a wedding recently where there was a hog roast. I don't eat pork, and ended up with a dry bread roll (there wasn't even any butter). Even if it is just pasta or something non-meat.

Were having a BBQ at our party back home with a shoulder pork joint so we get a small hog roast with a few options so maybe you could add hot dogs/burgers or something as an alternative?

I've been helping a friend out with their hog roast company, and we've done starters/ main meal was a sit down of potatoes/veg and then served on a tray per table hog roast/stuffing and crackling and a jug of gravy.. or if just having hor roast as a bbq, pasta dishes/new.pots/ and salads.

Hi guys. I can certainly shed some light on this as we ARE a BBQ Catering Company. I'm sure there's quite a few companies up North that would offer something similar to us. We actually have a "Wedding BBQ Breakfast Menu" where we not only provide a Hog Roast but also some BBQ Nibbles instead of Canapes including all the staff to Roast, Carve and Serve. The Hog Roast is served alongside Roasted Baby New Potatoes (roasted in the Hog's juices!), breads and a large array of lovely Salads.

Just be careful as there's Hog Roast Companies popping up all over these days so make sure the company you choose:

Have been around and have a good reputation (ask for references)
Follow the strict Health & Safety Regulations when it comes to catering
Can offer alternatives to Veggies and maybe even pescitarian or non red meat eaters
Are not ridiculously cheap! Any catering that are out of the ordinary cheap are cheap for a reason!
See if they do an Open Day / Tasting session on offer. Otherwise maybe even go out and visit them to see where the company is operated from.
You can usually easily see from a Hog Roast or any catering company's website if they are worth their crackling.. But that's only my opinion! I judge a book on its cover.

Hope this is helpful! If you have any more questions I'm sure I can answer them as we've been in this industry since 2003, and still loving it!

Most of the companies I looked at would also do spit roast lamb and chicken along with pastas and salads.

We didn't go that way but you can't beat a good hog roast if there's a big group.

Oooh - spot roast lamb - my tummy is rumbling!!

i have seen companies do a lovely Paella on the side.

What about posh potatoe salad, pasta salad, bean salad, green salad and then a selection of posh condiments for the hog or lamb roast?

We are in Cheshire too and getting married this september, and have chosen to have a hog roast but it is provided by our venue not a separate company. Although its being served buffet style we are still having formal tables (centrepieces etc) and table plan. We will have veggie alternative, and salads which i might make myself or might get venue to organise. I want things to be relaxed but still weddingy, if that makes sense!!
