Honeymoon destinations - on a budget

Chloe, 19 March, 2025 at 09:09 Posted on Honeymoons & Getting Married Abroad 0 10

Hi All, Could i get some recommendations of some beautiful holiday destination but on a budget.

As much as we would love to venture to the exotic places like Maldives, Bora Bora, Thailand and so on..... it just is not going to be realistic with our budget and financial situation.

Can anyone recommend any other places or specific hotels - we are going for full on relaxation, beach, all inclusive, around May 2027.

Have you looked into places like Turkey (Antalya or Bodrum), Greece (some of the lesser-known islands), or even the Canary Islands? They have stunning beaches, great all-inclusive options, and are usually much more affordable than the Maldives or Bora Bora. May is also a great time to go since it’s warm but not peak season. Hope you find the perfect spot!

Portugal could be a great option. They have some lovely all inclusive resorts but probably more affordable plus flights will definitely be cheaper! I think Portugal tends to have the same vibe as Italy but a lot more affordable. Also some of the Greek islands have amazing all inclusive resorts and will be lovely and warm in May but won't be peak season cost wise!

It's great you're planning ahead for May 2027! That gives you plenty of time to research and save. Here are some recommendations for beautiful, relaxing, all-inclusive beach destinations that can be more budget-friendly than the Maldives or Bora Bora, keeping in mind that prices can fluctuate:

    Destinations with Budget-Friendly All-Inclusive Options:

Mexico (Riviera Maya or Puerto Vallarta):

Mexico offers a wide range of all-inclusive resorts, from budget-friendly to luxurious.

The Riviera Maya has beautiful beaches, Mayan ruins, and cenotes (natural sinkholes).

Puerto Vallarta offers a mix of beaches, mountains, and a charming town.

    Budget Tips:

Travel during the shoulder season (just before or after peak season) to avoid higher prices. May is getting closer to the hotter season, but can still be a good time to travel.

Look for resorts a bit further from the main tourist areas.

    Consider smaller, less well-known resorts.

Dominican Republic (Punta Cana or Puerto Plata):

The Dominican Republic is known for its beautiful beaches and affordable all-inclusive resorts.

Punta Cana is a popular choice with long stretches of white sand.

Puerto Plata offers a more laid-back atmosphere and opportunities for adventure activities.

    Budget Tips:

Look for package deals that include flights and accommodation.

Consider resorts that are slightly older or less modern, as they may be more affordable.

    Jamaica (Negril or Montego Bay):

Jamaica has a vibrant culture, beautiful beaches, and all-inclusive resorts.

Negril is known for its Seven Mile Beach and laid-back atmosphere.

Montego Bay is a popular tourist destination with a wide range of resorts.

    Budget Tips:

    Travel during the off-season.

Look for resorts that offer discounts or promotions.

Consider staying in smaller, family-run resorts.

    Egypt (Red Sea Resorts):

The Red sea is home to many beautiful resorts, and is an excellent location for snorkeling and scuba diving.

The Egyptian pound can provide good value for money.

    Budget Tips:

Research different travel agencies and online travel sites for good deals.

Look into resorts that are a little further from the main tourist hubs.

    Portugal (Algarve):

While not strictly "all-inclusive" in the Caribbean sense, the Algarve region of Portugal offers beautiful beaches, stunning cliffs, and affordable accommodations.

You can find many hotels and resorts that offer half-board or full-board options.

The cost of living in Portugal is generally lower than in other Western European countries.

    Budget Tips:

    Travel during the shoulder season.

Consider staying in apartments or villas with kitchenettes to save on food costs.

Take advantage of free activities like hiking and exploring the beaches.

    Cape Verde Islands:

This archipelago off the coast of West Africa offers beautiful beaches, volcanic landscapes, and a mix of African and Portuguese culture.

You can find all-inclusive resorts on islands like Sal and Boa Vista.

    Budget Tips:

    Travel during the off-season.

Look for package deals that include flights and accommodation.

    Tips for Finding Budget-Friendly Hotels:

Use online travel agencies: Websites like Expedia, Booking.com, and Kayak can help you compare prices and find deals.

Look for package deals: Many travel agencies offer package deals that include flights, accommodation, and sometimes even activities.

Travel during the shoulder season: Prices are typically lower during the off-season or shoulder season Talk To Food Lion

Consider smaller resorts: Smaller resorts may offer more affordable rates than larger, more luxurious resorts.

Read reviews: Before booking a hotel, read reviews from other travelers to get an idea of the quality and value.

Be flexible with your dates: If you're flexible with your travel dates, you may be able to find better deals.

Book in advance: Booking your trip well in advance can often help you secure better prices.

Set up price alerts: Many travel websites allow you to set up price alerts, so you'll be notified when prices drop.

Remember to factor in the cost of flights, visas (if required), and any other expenses when budgeting for your trip. Happy planning!
