Hi all

We are getting married in September and would like to go on honeymoon on the 11th Sep but are stuck where to go! We would like to stay in Europe and want a mixture of things to do explore/ relax. We were thinking either northern/southern Italy or some Greek islands, has anyone done either and can recommend which they preferred, best place to stay and things to do etc? Thankyou xx

Hi Miranda,
We've been to Italy on three separate trips: Florence, Rome and Venice. We love going to Italy because the country is beautiful, the people are friendly and the food and wine is great! We've booked to go to the Amalfi Coast for our honeymoon in September. Before that we will go on a short camping trip in the UK for our minimoon :-)
We went to Zakynthos for my partner's nephews wedding last year and that was nice if you like beaches.
I would recommend Italy myself as it's so perfect and romantic!

More for Italy where my partner is leaning to Greece but I either wanted to go to amalfi and Pompeii or lake como and Venice etc they all look so so beautiful it’s so tough to choose I’m sure you’ll have an amazing time! X

I find Italy cleaner and more 'civilised'. Whereas I find Greece, especially around Athens and the big cities to be dirty and falling to pieces. Having said that the beaches are pretty with clear blue waters. Whatever, you decide to choose, have a lovely time! :-)
Amalfi Coast around Naples and Pompeii has stunning winding roads and clifftop hotels and quaint villages. Pompeii is fascinating and definitely worth a visit if you like history.
Venice is just so romantic. My partner proposed to me pre pandemic in a flooded Venice in the autumn. We wore our wellies there!
Never been to Lake Como but that will be for another time.

Oh wow that’s so so romantic proposal in Venice!! How lovely! Thankyou so much for this! I think I’m going to try and bribe more for Italy haha my fiancé wasn’t that fussy but as soon as he saw the Greek waters he fell in love and wanted to go to Athens as we both love history! But I’ve heard it’s a little dirty and some areas a bit sketchy! Think Italy has my heart for sure! X

Italy is beautiful. For mine we are spending 10 nights in Sorrento and whilst their we will visit Pompeii and then we will get the train from Naples to Rome and do 4 nights in Rome. Sorrento is on the Amalfi Coast which is beautiful and the perfect place to relax and then Pompeii and Rome allows us to do some sight-seeing and exploring. The best of both

We did 9 days in Italy last September (2 nights rome, then train to Naples and slow train to Sorrento, 5 days there, 1 night in Naples)

A stunning honeymoon. Make sure you get a pool in Sorrento as beaches require you to pau to use them, with the exception of 1 tiny one.
You can also do day trips to Amalfi coast.
Athens is a dusty, metro city, so can certainly feel a bit dirty but its wonderful but 2 days max.
For honeymoon vibes on a budget, I say go for Amalfi coast trip. The food was ❤️❤️❤️❤️
