Honeymoon in Italy!

eburmistre, 15 February, 2023 at 08:32 Posted on Honeymoons & Getting Married Abroad 1 3

Hi!

We're thinking of heading off on our honeymoon after our wedding in October 2023 to do a 2-week road trip around various parts of Italy. Currently we're thinking Venice, Verona, Rome, Florence and maybe Sicily. I wanted to ask if you had any recommendations for places to visit in these cities or whether we should budget in a few more cities.

Thanks!

    Hi,

My fiancé and I have done three separate trips to Italy in the past - Florence, Rome and Venice. You could spend 3 or 4 days in each place. However, I wouldn't rush up and down the country too much unless you like driving.

For Florence, visit the main Piazza, Uffizi Gallery, Ponte Vecchio, Piazzale Michelangelo, il Duomo cathedral. We also visited a small village outside of Florence which was lovely but forget the name.

For Rome, visit the Vatican, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, the Roman Forum, the Coliseum

For Venice, visit the Bridge of Sighs, Murano, Burano, Piazza San Marco.

Best is to google search or buy a Lonely Planet Italy guidebook.

We've decided to go to the Amalfi Coast for our honeymoon in September for a week. Straight after our wedding in July we'll be going camping at a beautiful clifftop camping site.

    Thank you so much!

Also congrats on your wedding and honeymoon! It sounds like you'll have a wonderful time camping and then celebrating on the Amalfi Coast!

My fiance and I have both visited Italy separately and we've been to completely different parts of the country so we were hoping to take about 2 weeks to visit a few places. We don't mind driving so we might try and work out an efficient route to hit up all the spots on our list. Is there anywhere you recommend in terms of accommodation?

    Congratulations to you too.

Here is the list of hotels we have stayed at before. None of them really posh but all very central and charming.

    Hotel Antico Doge - Venice

Hotel Por Santa Maria - Florence

    Hotel Golden - Rome

Hotel Margherita - Praiano (Amalfi Coast)
