Honeymoon pill

Wildone23, 4 August, 2014 at 22:54 Posted on Honeymoons & Getting Married Abroad 0 5

Hi, can anyone advise on a honeymoon pill, I have recently come off the pill in the hope of trying for a baby after we are married however the way my periods fall I may end up getting my period whilst on honeymoon. I have heard that you can get a pill from the doctors to stop it, when do I take this, is it a one off and will it effect any chances of falling pregnant? Any advice greatly received, it is near on impossible to get an appointment with my go!

Hi, Im getting married next week abroad and it worked out that i would most probably get mine while there or on the wedding day, so i went to the doctors and got a pill called Norethisterone, you have to take 1 tablet 3 times a day and start taking it approx 2-3 days before your period is due and it delays your perios for up to 17 days. Hope this is some help x

As above. And as it is short acting, will not affect your fertility x

Yes, I can recommend Norethisterone. I took it recently to change when my period fell so that hopefully I don't get it on my wedding or honeymoon. It's taken as explained above, you take 3 days before your period due and at the point at which you stop taking it your period should come 2-3 days later. It's not a contraceptive and it shouldn't affect your fertility. Ask your GP for it, they won't prescribe more than 2-3 weeks supply as it's not good to take it for too long apparently.
