Hoping we get some good news today!

ExpensiveGreenCakes49831, 22 February, 2021 at 10:03 Posted on Planning 0 20
Hi all,

Hope you are all okay.
I’ve been so nervous and anxious about the announcement later but really hoping we will get the green light for our July 2021 wedding.
Hope you are all feeling okay and it works out for us 2021 brides!

Me too! We are getting married in May (hopefully). We would like 30 people there but even 15 would be great to be honest.

Out of curiosity, have you booked a florist or are you trying to DIY? I'm currently stuck with what to do for the day!

I hope you can have your day! From following the What About Weddings and Wedding Taskforce on Instagram, they are pushing for normal weddings from May!

We’re actually going to DIY our flowers but bouquets will be professional done. Mainly because we’re having a teepee wedding so the table designs are quite simple (flowers in glass bottles) and simple arrangements down the ceremony aisle.

Do wonder if I’ve lost my mind and if we should just pay a professional haha. I guess it wouldn’t be a wedding without some stress!

    Hi ladies

I'm a volunteer on the UK Weddings Taskforce (my day job is as a Celebrant, although I am also a Bride!). The Wedding industry in the UK directly or indirectly employs or supports around 1 milllion people. We are working closely to get the wedding industry some support and some business, but we are very cautious at this stage as to what might be allowed.

Fingers crossed we get some good news later on today!

    Love,
    Ali xx

Thank you for volunteering and supporting this!

I feel hopeful for weddings but not feeling hopeful for ours as the reception is within a teepee on private property. If risk assessments need to be done, I doubt we’d fit into this as a wedding venue. Keeping my fingers crossed though.

Fingers crossed everyone! We are April in Cornwall (a 3.5 hour drive from us), so pretty sure it won't happen for us but hope you all get the news you want ?

We are July 2021 too, and I’m so nervous. I think I’m more nervous as, despite the announcement today, I do think things will continue to change and shift right up until our date. It’s so hard to make a concrete decision now I think (unless your wedding is in the next couple of months I’d say).
I’m also nervous that there may not be any dates left for 2022 if we do have to postpone!

Each couple and every wedding is different. You can only do what is right for you and your needs.

Based on our family circumstances and health issues (including my own), we have taken the decision this afternoon to postpone by another 12 months.

Gutted to be on our third date, but I want all our loved ones to be there, and have the day as we would want it. I'd be inconsolable if we continued our planning only to have to the Government announce another restriction too close to our date to allow for a postponement.

This means we're now getting married on a Sunday rather than a Saturday, but after talking it out in terms of our logistics of getting things to and from our various locations, it might actually be less stressful. Every cloud, eh?

Fingers crossed here too. We had to postpone our Mar 2020 date - but not sure we want to fix a new date now until we get clarity tonight. Hopefully we get good news at 7pm!

How are you feeling after the news yesterday?

It’s a lot better than we expected and we’re hoping we have some leeway if the 21st June is pushed back.
Now we have the panic of picking up planning again as we haven’t done anything since October!

Following Boris announcement we’ve bitten the bullet and postponed our 24th April wedding to 10th July 2021. Our vendors have been amazing and done so free of charge.

We are still thinking of legally marrying on 24th April but we’ll see if that works cost wise etc.

    Feel really good now X

    Keeping everything crossed for you.
Honestly, we were surprised at the response (and good news speed).

Now we can think forward to cakes, maybe even a DJ etc. Delayed my dress fitting etc.
Tbh, until we are legally wedded it won’t feel real x

Thank you. Our photographer has availability so that will be an easy change, then I can book my dress fitting in.
Yeah I won't get my hopes up until I'm walking down the aisle lol

Our wedding is the 10 July 2021 so barring any complete disasters we should be able to go ahead and better still, in full with all of our guests. This is our third date and lots and lots of stress so I’m trying to keep a lid on my excitement but it’s difficult. I honestly can’t face any more delays. I’m getting my vaccine on Friday so so far this has been a good week! Good luck to everyone hoping to have their special day x

Our wedding is September. Not sure I will completely relax as things seem to change so quickly and take a long time to get better. But I have started to feel better about it and maybe look at booking cars and starting homemade bits that I haven't had the heart to start.

It is really hard to raise your enthusiasm again after such a terrible year. I want to get excited about it but I worry about being disappointed again. I’d started making a welcome sign and table numbers in 2019 and they’re just sitting in the spare bedroom unfinished. I get them out now and again and look at them then put them away again. I need to order decals for them but keep putting it off. All that said spring is around the corner so we have to look forward to a better year.

Fingers crossed for the 10th then! Originally we were 18 July 2020, then 12 September and now 10 July. We’ve lost a venue, suppliers and guests along the way but hopefully we’ll go ahead this time and have a great day although I think it’s going to be a very emotional one!
