Horse & Carriage

WendyQ, 8 June, 2008 at 23:43 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone is having or has looked into having a horse(s) and carriage for their wedding? Could anyone advise a ballpark figure on how much they cost, i.e. 2 horses and a carriage?

Also, the trip to the church is only 1/2 a mile and the trip from the church to the reception is approx 1 mile. Would it be too much to ask for them to do 2 trips to the church and 2 to the reception so that I don't need another form of transport for the bridesmaids? Altogether the mileage would be 4.5 miles then about 1/2 a mile from the reception back to the starting point where their horsebox would be, so 5 miles in total.

If that's not possible I was thinking of seeing if there was anyone who covered the Wirral area who had 2 carriages, presumably there may be a discount for booking 2? Could anyone advise me?

Thanks ?

    This Company covers Mersyside:

Might be worth giving them a call and asking.

    hello,

Up in the north east you can get them for about £600, two horses, carriage, driver and a groom. My friend looked into getting one and the ones she saw were the sames price regardless of the distance. As for doing two runs, the only inconvenience for you could be the time (but then good chance to get some shots of the two of you alone at the church!).

Thanks for the replies. I'll make some enquiries now. I'd made an estimate of £750 on my budget for this so hopefully this will be enough. I couldn't really afford to do this and hire an extra car for the bridesmaids if the horse and carriage could only do one trip.

    Thanks ?

Mine is costing £500 because they won't need to box up to my place!

I think they say 6miles total max so you'll be ok. I live in south east so no good for recommendations!

mine is £350 for 2 white horses and a carriage I got it for cheaper as only up the road so don't need to box them up plus the wedding is about 30 seconds walk from the church and the reception about 3 minutes on from that, so I am having mine do 2 trips and also rides for the children when we have been dropped off at the reception
