Hotels allocating rooms WWDY

allthatglitters, 18 August, 2008 at 15:51 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 6

I want to contact our hotel and ask for a sea view, (we have paid for one, but looking at the reviews that doesn't guarantee you get one! ) We go on the 31st and I want to contact them at about the time they would be allocating the rooms for future guests. Has anyone done this before? Im guessing they allocate rooms at the beginning of the week your arriving?

I did it last time we stayed here and got a fantastic view however I am thinking that luck won't happen twice and the back rooms of the hotel are grott so I want to try my best. I wish I could remember our room number so I could ask for that! I can't remember how early I called them last time, I think maybe I just caught them as they were allocating the rooms.

I'm a bit confused by the 'pay for one but didn't get one' comment. Surely if you've paid extra for a sea view then you get a sea view. Otherwise i'd be asking for a refund.

If you're worried just mail them and say you want to double check that they've received the extra payment for the sea view or something.

I would call now- they can put a note against your name in the reservations book. No point waiting until they're doing allocations.

I would email them and ask. I've done something like that once for my mum and her friend and although they hadn't paid any extra, the hotel were happy to oblige. No harm in it, is there?

If you get a sea balcony they are right above the main bars where the good DJ's play, and you can do some good celeb spotting from there to ? It's right above Cafe Del Mar in Ibiza so it's a big meeting place for sunset drinks, When we went we got all the music and fab acts from just sitting on our balcony. (much cheaper than the 10euros a drink down in the bar!

The reviews I read said they had booked a sew view but when they got there none were available, they did get their money back but the rooms at the back of the hotel look onto the carpark/bins so I really don't want to be landed there.
