How can I incorporate cricket into my wedding without it being tacky?

hannahstorey17, 17 February, 2015 at 14:44 Posted on Planning 0 6

I'm currently planning my wedding which is this summer, set in a barn. It is going to be very classic and chic with lots of white and pastel colours with flowers everywhere. My husband to be is a massive cricket fan so I want to incorporate it in the reception somehow, but don't want anything too over the top or tacky.

I would love some suggestions Smiley smile

I know a couple of hitchers have done this.

Canary had a cricket table plan you can see it in her report here:

Have you looked on this site? I was looking there are rugby themed favours and noticed that they do cricket too.

You could incorporate cricket in a subtle way by using elegant, understated details rather than making it the main theme of the wedding. For example, you could display a vintage cricket bat as part of the reception décor, use small cricket-inspired table numbers, or have a tasteful cricket-themed cake topper that matches your white and pastel colour scheme. You could also name a few tables after famous cricket grounds, players, or memorable matches, with a short description on each table. If your fiancé has a favourite team or player, a small framed print or personalised cricket detail could add a meaningful touch without taking over the classic barn setting. For example, mentioning the MI Emirates squad or a favourite player such as Richard Ngarava could be a subtle conversation piece or personalised wedding detail. The key is to keep the cricket elements minimal and elegant so they complement the overall style rather than compete with it.
