I'd say 'marn' as in Steve McMahon.

Ma-hn. (It's the best I can do using letters, rather than phonetics)

I went to school with Mahons and Mahoneys and they were pronounced Marn and Marney with a long A.

    Thanks for all the suggestions.
I've known a McMahon too that was macmarn, but I wasn't sure if the Menorcan capital was the same.
[random fact] Mahon (Menorca) is where mayonnaise originally came from.

    I'm a McMahon and it's pronounced Marn, although I get called McMann,McMayhon. If it's the place in Minnorca,then it's pronounced Ma-hon.

id="quote">Sorry, but that makes me think of the Irish saying póg mo thóin (pronounced 'pogue mahone') which means 'kiss my arse'. ?

I've heard it pronounced both Mahn and Ma-hon (with the stress on the first syllable). I favour the latter myself but what do I know? ?

Marn is how I would pronounce the surname.

Ma-hon is the place in Spain/the cheese.

Hi, I work with a Mr Mahon and here he gets either 'Ma-hon' or 'Ma-hone'. I've never heard him correct anyone so not sure which is right, if indeed either is at all! I call him 'Ma-hone'.
