How do you stop your black eyeshadow going all over your face.

HeidiHole, 24 April, 2009 at 14:46 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 9

Hmmph. I've got a gorgeous MAC black sparkly eyeshadow that a very very lovely lady bought me as a gift. Whenever I apply it I end up with it all over the corners and insides of my eyes as well as on my eyelid, I then have to redo the base make up at the inside and side of my eyes. I know how to keep it from falling underneath, but the sides?

Pleeeeeeeeease tell me how I avoid this?

I slap on some extra powder around the bottom and sides of the eyes. That sort of catches any fallen bits of eyeshadow. When I'm done I just brush away the powder.

Use a damp brush/damp finger (whatever application method you use). This does increase the intensity of the colour so you'll have to be careful not to overdo it, but it keeps it within the area you want a bit better.

Fark me, I have the memory of a goldfish. I posted this thread, went off to do something, came back, looked at the screen, saw the thread title and thought "Ooh, someone else has the black eyeshadow problem too". ??

Thanks for the tips, I will experiment tonight so that I don't waste time tomorrow evening re-applying base.

Minx Sauce, my one is Black Tied Velvet, Black Ore is def one to get too. I loooooove it.

    Thanks again, all ?

I quite often wear a sparkley navy eyeshadow, three things that help when applying are 1) always use a base 2) build colour gradually and 3) I don't apply foundation and the rest of my base until after I have done my eyes (only mascara left to do!) then I can wipe away any colour which falls onto my face, I got that tip from a friend who is a make up artist ?

There are two ways of doing it:

    1) Put alot of loose powder underneath eyes before you apply your eyeshadow then afterwards sweep away with your brsh.

    2) The best way to do it espec if using darl eyeshadow. Do your eyes first then using a babywipe of makeup wipe, wipe away all the excess eyeshadow from your face and then do your base etc.

Urban Decay do an excllent eyeshadow prinmer which makes everything stay put; I always use it when I'm applying the silver eyeshadow I mentioned on the MAC thread, as that has a tendency to "descend" if left unchecked.

I swear by this, you can apply it over or under eyeshadow / liner and it stays put all day!
