How early is too early?

Rheanna, 20 of June of 2024 at 06:41 Posted on Planning 0 1
Hello everyone!

My partner and I have recently got engaged, but are struggling with knowing when is the right time to start planning? I’ve read online that you ideally need to book your venue 2 years before your chosen date in order to secure your venue! We’re looking at August 2026 so should we start viewing venues now with an idea to book in August time?
I definitely don’t want to risk losing out on our preferred date at our venue of choice but it feels so early!
And when did people start sending out their ‘save the dates’?

If you have already found your venue and have a preferred date, then go ahead and book it.

Of course you don't have to book that far ahead - I know plenty of people who have pulled a wedding together in just a few months, or even weeks, but the shorter the time-frame, the more flexible you have to be in terms of what you book. So if you have a definite location and date in mind, then the sooner you book that the better. The same with any other supplier that you really feel you 'must' have.
